fr3db3ar Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 Why does the 308 even have forward assist?I tried mine today in preperation for hunting season. Letting it down easy to reduce noise.....the forward assist does nothing to help. What am I doing wrong?

98Z5V Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 The FA should catch the bolt carrier right at the edge, where the BCG necks up from "regular AR-15 sized," to the .308 BCG diameter. If it's not that far forward, it won't get it. It's about the equivalent of the "last click" on an AR-15 setup.
