unforgiven Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 How far we have come. https://theaviationgeekclub.com/the-b-36-peacemaker-was-so-huge-that-catwalks-were-placed-inside-its-wings-so-that-mechanics-could-maintain-the-engines-in-flight/
Steve crawford Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 I crawled through one of those that was on static display at Greater Southwest Air field in Grand Prairie, TX back when I was trying to stay in school ( fall of 1966). We spent about an hour in the plane. It was messed up inside. A lot of stuff was broken or ripped out. It was very impressive to stand up in the wing. We went in late at night. Climbed up the main gear into the wing. When we went to the rear of the plane we had to walk softly to keep the nose from moving up and down enough to been seen from outside of the plane. I don't even know where that area is now. So many things gone forever. 😂😂😂 Steve
