98Z5V Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Doesn't the Mega setup capture the rod, at the back? Blind hole, and the rod stops in there, when inserting it from the front? If that's the case, the only way will be removing the handguard, and probably the barrel nut, too - then sliding it out towards the front.

98Z5V Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 Look for a small c-clip on the rod. That's an AR-15 thing, and it might be on yours.
soofley Posted December 30, 2011 Author Report Posted December 30, 2011 there was no c clip. The rod actually just slips in and out with no locking mechanism. I got lucky last and saw the rod sticking out JUST enough for me to use the pliers to pull it out. Been waiting for days to get that cover out. All removable parts i wanted de-anodized are now done.shaaw00p
