I'm putting together an LR308 / DPMS upper and I'm trying to find the triangular A1 style handguard. Plenty out there for AR-15, but not having any luck for an LR 308. Any suggestions?

Hello, RJE288

The round ones are the same I think, seems like I put the A4 M-15 carbine handguard from the armalite site on my last 308 build. Maybe same with triangle? Need the 308 barrel nut assembly. Front delta ring should be crossover also?

If it's a combo, it will.  That's what went on all the A2 conversions, back in the day.  Look for something like this:

A1, only, looks like this:

Handguard Cap Triangle - .750 AR15

A2, only, looks like this:

Handguard Cap Round - .750 AR15

The combo works with both A1 and A2 handguards, and looks like this:

The front isn't a Delta ring - it's a handguard cap.  Yes, it might work - with the correct handguard cap.  You'll be the guinea pig for A1 handquards, as far as reported here, on a .308AR.

This is a barrel nut/delta ring assembly:

The front that holds the handguards is just a "handguard cap."  Pics were provided above, with what fits what - be careful of what you buy,

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I've seen a couple of varieties of the front cap. Right now I've got an aero precision M5 receiver and I've been trying to plan things out before I buy a bunch of parts randomly. I've seen a couple LR 308s or AR-10s online with the A1 front handguard, so it's obviously possible.

If A2 rounds off the AR15 will fit the barrel nut threaded for a .308AR, then A1 handguards will fit, too.  The M16 barrel nut (outer dimensions) never changed.  If that .308AR barrel nut works for the A2s, then it works for the A1s.
