RUTGERS95
I'm trying to decide on a brake, any suggestions that would fit the sass barrel after I have it threaded? Is this even an issue like with some bull barrels?
Jgun
What's the outside diameter of the SASS? Isn't it threded from the factory?
RUTGERS95
no, i have a lr-308b that wasn't threaded. I have to measure it but looks like it's a standard sass barrel diameter. I was doing some research and looks like most 308 brakes will work. I might have jumped the gun a bit, sorry.any experience with the SJC Titan brake? Jgun
I picked one up for a build, based on hearing some good reviews of it's performance, but never installed it because it felt a little on the heavy side to me. I ended up using a BABC on that gun, which is definitely lighter, and I feel that it's effective in recoil reduction. I never tested the Titan, but at less than half the price of the BABC it might not be a bad choice, if the extra weight at the end of the barrel doesn't concern you. LocoGringo
I don't have experience with the Titan on a .308, but I do have experience with the Titan on a 5.56. It depends on what you are using it for whether or not I would recommend it. It is SUPER effective at keeping the muzzle down, but it is STUPID loud. Every time I shoot my 5.56 at a 3-gun match where I'm a new competitor, I have people ask me what caliber it is because it's so loud. A buddy from work wanted to try out my rifle once, but forgot hearing protection. I stuck my fingers in my ears and didn't have a problem. He came back after the first shot, handed me the rifle and screamed at me (presumably because he was temporarily deaf) that it was louder than his .300 Win Mag. Like I said, it's super effective for what it's for, but it's REALLY loud and I wouldn't want to imagine what it would be like for a .308. RUTGERS95
gotcha and thanks for the replies. I have a fsc30 on one of my 6.8 and I think that is too loud so perhaps I'll look at something else. I do like the babc however and of course, the surefire is effective as well. Gunner308
I'm using a JP Tactical Comp on my SASS! Awesome Guys and service! Check them out! it is a .925 with a 5/8x24 thread! Significant recoil reduction and sounds like a beast! http://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPTRE-5.58B.
Gunner308
BTW It is not stupid loud when shooting... Have no idea what it sounds like as a bystander but I'm sure the side pressure may be significant!
RUTGERS95
sounds and looks good...thanks!
Guest LLArms
I use the JP muzzle brake pictured above as well, the large profile one (.950?) for a bull barrel.
