big_baller Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Over the past year or so I have had 3-4 extractor failures, many FTE with this barrel (bought new) and have trouble manually cycling rounds. I have read about tight chambers from DPMS however these symptoms have been present with every type of ammo I try(match 308, surplus, full length resized reloads).I have polished chamber using the .410 chamber mob method with no real improvement. Does any one have any other Ideas? or some contact information of someone that could check the tolerances of the chamber and possibly ream it out? Please Let me know. Thanks,Nick
unforgiven Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Welcome from Indiana Nick.DPMS is a common barnd here I'm sure someone will have some thoughts as to the problem.
Tripledeuce Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 My dpms 260 rem bbl was so tight I had to use a reamer and "kiss" the chamber. I would suggest you have your gunsmith take a chamber cast, and, if needed, kiss the chamber. Respectfully. Terry
392heminut Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 I agree with Terry, take it to a gunsmith and see if it needs a 'touch-up' with the reamer. Look at it this way, it's better to have a tight chamber than to have one that's sloppy, less work to fix it!
