So, after the frustration with the Kvar forearm and handguard set, I saw that Brownell's carries a MWI AK forearm and handguard set made of aluminum.

This has picatinny rails top, bottom, and both sides and was highly rated by customers.  I ordered it.

Today we got it and installed it.  Cool beans!  The lower part has a steel lower-half of a barrel clamp installed already.  This is placed onto the barrel, and the upper part is then hand tightened.  Once accomplished, the gastube cover is set in place and everything is adjusted for best position.  When you have this, crank everything down and install the screws that hold the gastube cover in place.

As our AK is a BWK-47 in .223, finding proper fitting furniture has been a challenge.  The Kvar buttstock is great, but the front end was lacking.  The manner in which this MWI set attaches is cool beans and the best option going!

I got the same guard but with the Delta Point upper. Installation was a breeze. Glad you like yours. Like you I highly recommend it.
