Goofball310 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 I've built a few AR15's and this will be my first AR10 and the first time using a rifle buffer system.I read the sticky regarding buffers and according to the info AR15 & AR10 rifle buffer tubes are the same. I plan on using a Magpul PRS stock and was wondering why Magpul has a AR10 PRS and a AR15 PRS if the tubes are the same. Also, will DPMS 308 rifle buffers work in an Armalite rifle build?TIA

Pathfinder Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 The PRS stock has two different variations for the two platforms because the cheek rest on the .308 version is shorter to clear the charging handle on the larger platforms. The Dpms buffer will work but many have had issues using these. Can you elaborate on this please? I have a DPMS LR308. I want to put a PRS on it.Do I need to change buffer/ spring and or tube? I intend to buy the 308 PRS but do I need to change the other items? If so what items and where can they be obtained?
Goofball310 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Report Posted February 25, 2013 It depends on which stock you currently have on your LR308. If you have a collapsible stock then you will need to change the buffer tube, buffer, and spring. If you currently have a fixed A2 stock then you can just slide on the PRS.If you need to change out the buffer tube and you don't know how this is a good video to watch:
Goofball310 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Report Posted February 25, 2013 ^^ No other purchase necessary besides the PRS^^ Requires new buffer tube, buffer, and spring
