draco41
ok, I am going to move ahead with the next step in my build,(even though the lower isn't completed yet :o ) . Tell me what you think of this: DPMS .308 24 Inch A3 Stainless Barrel Upper with Forward Assist and Dustcover Upgrades-With QuadRail Fore-End from http://www.rguns.net/ for $795 shipped? imschur
hmm is the quad rail free float? From a practical standpoint a gun this big and heavy is going to need to be shot from a bench, prone with a bipod. The Quad Rail isnt going to do much for you beyond looking cool (and thats ok). If this was a shorter gun that you would toss a tactical lite and a laser on I might think differently. Just an outside observation.Later down the line if you want to swap the handguard out you can get something like this ;D
draco41
I think it is a free float, but not sure

PantherPlayer
This is your 80% lower right?? Where did you get it milled out??
draco41
I did the machine work myself and as for the engraving, I have a friend with a cnc mill, he is going to do it with this build. I have used http://www.orion-arms.com/gun-engraving/welcome.html in the past though, they do awesome work.

PantherPlayer
I agree, it does look awesome. I can't even tell it's not factory and after it is hardcoated I'm sure it will look even better How do you get the specs for machining it? I have a couple friends with access to mills. draco41
The 80% lower and machining fixture I got here http://www.tacticalmachining.com/as far as the specs, the FCG pocket is the same dim. as an AR15. but the fixture has all the info you need right on it.If anyone cares to do their own like I did, I would be more then willing to loan the fixture out as long as I have some sort of guarantee on its return. I know that with all I have spent on the fixture and 80% lower I could have had a factory lower, but then it wouldn't be mine. There's something to be said for doing it yourself. draco41
Well I'm 90% done so far, got the lower back from US Anodizing. Need to put some glass on her and the permanent brake the start the break in. The Geissele DMR trigger is smooth and crisp at 3lbs for the 1st stage and about 8oz for the 2nd, I love it. draco41
took about 3 weeks, they called friday because she couldn't read my chicken scratches of a hand writing to verify my addy, and it came today. this is the second lower they did for me, and it turned out great, nothing but good things to say about US Ano. draco41
I got the muzzle break back today. I originally bought a miculek break but didn't like how the break was a bigger o.d. then the barrel and the jam nut was smaller then the barrel. So I took it to a friend to make me a new nut to match the size of the barrel or break, either or didn't care which. He said to hell with that and made me one out of stainless to match the barrel. nice clean lines.
