jmatt511 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Does the .308 use a proprietary firing pin or is the standard AR-15 firing pin compatable?
98Z5V Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Waaaaay different. Design-wise, similar, but that's about it. Size makes a difference... <lmao>

98Z5V Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Longer, wider, with an extra "bump" in it... All the stuff you never like to hear, really. <dontknow> <lmao>Here's a small pic of the .308 FP, in the BCG breakdown:If I get the time tomorrow, I'll do a side-by-side pic of the 5.56 and the .308 firing pins. <thumbsup>
johncheek Posted April 8, 2019 Report Posted April 8, 2019 How far should the firing pin protrude out of the bolt face when fired? Specific dimensions, PLEASE!
98Z5V Posted April 9, 2019 Report Posted April 9, 2019 (edited) 9-year Necro on this one. I'll go measure this now... Edit -bolt face depth from the front of the lugs is 0.130" on an Aero/ToolCraft BCG. Firing pin protrusion from the front of the lugs is 0.090". Firing pin protrusion on this BCG would be 0.040". Measure multiple times, around the bolt face lugs - so at multiple lugs, both to the bolt face and to the firing pin protrusion. I'll measure an Armalite AR-10 BCG and a DWilson BCG later, and report back. Won't be tonight, though. Edited April 9, 2019 by 98Z5V
