It's to show how exact the turret measurements are. You aim at the orange dot and adjust the turrets to shoot the corners out. This is for guys who constantly change their dope. It verifies that when you adjust x amount of elevation or windage it does or does not move your poi that that much. If you dial 5moa on your turret and it actually only adjusts 4 moa on your poi then there is a problem with the scope. It's only a problem if you like to dial to a target and not hold over.
