MandPManiac
I intend to purchase an AR-10 type rifle in the very near future. It is critical that I get this right. Spending this kind of $$ is a one time affair. My requirement is for an accurate, M4 carbine size implementation of the AR-10. I have come down to three contestants based on accuracy, reliability and cost. They are the LMT MWS, POF-USA R308-12-MRR-308 and the Amalite AR-10 Carbine. Please provide me with your rationale which one is the BEST VALUE based on my listed criteria. I appreciate your assistance in this most important decision. mrraley
This is my opinion...I went with ArmaLite because. ArmaLite has been doing the .308 AR-10's the longest,ArmaLite has more options or calibers on the AR-10 platform,ArmaLite was the first to have a "Life time Warranty" for the original purchaser, Other than the company that got the military contracts', ArmaLite AR-10's are the only semi auto .308's that have been deployed into combat. The AMU (ARMY Marksmanship Unit) almost swept the board at the Camp Perry National Matches with the AR-10A4BNMF as a service rifle. If I can think of anything else, I'll add it. imschur
Ive found Armalite good to deal with on a personal level.
ppcgm
This seems like the place to ask a very similar question. I've been shooting .223 AR's since the late 60's but have never owned or even fired a .308 AR and want to buy one now. I'm looking first at what Bud's calls "DPMS RFLR308 PTHR LR308 308FXD". If that piece is reliable and accurate, that seems like a great buy. If it isn't, 100% reliable, the next choice is a lot more expensive in the Armalite. But if that's the cost of reliability I'll pay the extra money rather than deal with the frustrations. Anyone have information on both rifles that they are willing to share with a newbie ? I'll appreciate the help.
SWshooter
I think I can safely speak for the majority of 308AR owners here and state that whatever you spend on your first 308AR won't be the last.
mrraley
Here is one major thing to concider... ArmaLite M-15/ AR-10/ AR-30/AR-50 Limited Lifetime Warranty to the initial retail purchaser This DPMS Firearms, LLC firearm is warranted to the original retail customer for Three Years from the date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship. All parts and labor or replacement at our option are covered.
