L8model
I've owned guns practically my whole life, but never really done much shooting (except the old Daisy 880 BB gun as a kid).I still own my 1st gun (Marlin Model 60 .22LR), which was given to me by my dad on my 18th Birthday. My 2nd gun is an old 1961 Rugar .44 Mag. Carbine that was handed down to me when my great grandfather passed away in the late '80's (still have it). My 3rd gun was a S&W 357 Mag. Highway Patrolman, which I no longer own. Last, but not least, my 4th gun owned is a brand new Gen. 3 Glock 23 (.40 Cal.) that I purchased for home security (and possible concealed carry) a little over a month ago after my wife had a situation with a felon that threatened her. After doing TONS of research before purchasing the Glock, I've somehow become VERY interested in AR-15's, which has now progressed into AR-10's. I nearly purchased a new Daniel Defense Model M4 v1, but then suddenly fell in love with the Armalite AR-10A4 CARBINE... My wife has laid down the law and tells me that she will not allow me to buy an "assault weapon" (this is the mild version)... <munch> However, I control where I spend my money... <lmao> or at least I like to think so... Now I'm seriously thinking of building a custom AR-10. <thumbsup>

Matt.Cross
Yeah, you're in the crowd of people whose expertise is in the field of cultivating marriages and gun collections at the same time <laughs> <lmao>Well, here's my .02, buy her something equally expensive, then she has no choice but to let you have your toys too. <thumbsup>
L8model
Thanks, guys... I look forward to soaking in as much information as I can from here. It should be fun. I've already started planning ways to bribe the "financial advisor". ;)

L8model
TacBlade: I noticed from your profile that you are in Rapid City. I lived there from '86 to '05 (graduated H.S in '87). I still have family out there & make it back every year for the Sturgis Rally.I stopped at a local gun store in Olympia, WA, yesterday & let them convince me to take home a bare lower CMMG MK-3... Looks live I've started my 1st build. =)I'm thinking of going for something with an 18" barrel with around a 12" rail... Planning to take my time with it, because I never did pass it by my "financial advisor". <dontknow>
