Hi guys, like the title says. I know how to do the forward assist on a normal ar-15 but can't figure out how to do it on the lightweight LR 308 upper. I put the pin in from the top and the forward assist just locks stiff and you can't move it. I know on the ar-15's you put it in from underneath but i'm not seeing how that's possible on the LR 308 upper. Can anyone help?

wow! luckily no one was hurt! I'd contact Winchester...maybe they'll ask you to send that box of ammo in for them to test...never know, they could have double packed a few rounds and maybe they'll help you out with the guns if that's the case.

I'm in the process of an LR308 build. Currently i just have the lower receiver and lower parts kit. This will be a slow project as i piece together exactly everything i want. Thanks a lot. I think i'll just stick with the DPMS and see if i can find some gen 1 AR-10 mags or some sr-25 mags.

So would you say a RRA would be a good choice? I've heard mixed reviews because i guess there's a lack of aftermarket parts for them.

I called DPMS and the GEN I AR-10 mags...which are the preban ones will fit in the DPMS lower (just need to find those). I looked at the RRA lower but the whole configuration looks different. For one, i didn't see the push drop bolt button on the side and the mag release looked like it was right infront of the trigger and not on the side where it usually is on an AR platform. Am i right or wrong on that observation?

Mass...no need for a button, but for a high cap over 10 round mag we need it to be pre ban...which was 94...seeing if there are any pre ban mags such as a FAL mag that would fit the lr308 lower. I've read early gen I ar-10 mags fit as well as Sr-25 mags w/e those are. Do they make a 30 rounder ar-10 mag in gen I like they did the FAL?

Looking for an answer to the title question. I just got my DPMS LR308 lower in BUT quickly wondered what my magazine capability would be in a ban state. I know FAL's have preban 20 and 30 round magazines...would the dpms lower accept the FAL mags? If not i may sell off this DPMS and start building a .308 ar that will if the DPMS won't accept any preban mags.

well got my lower...now gonna order a lower parts kit and a stock/buffer tube. Anyone recommended any stocks? I like the magpull stock but i found a MAKO (recoil reducing stock) while recently searching that doesn't seem bad. Anyone have any experience with them? I've never shot a semi auto .308 so i'm wondering how recoil is on these guns...anyone wanna chime in? AND does anyone reccomened a buffer tube? I'd like to go milspec if i could...does the stock LR308 have a mil or commercial buffer tube assy?

O nice. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm looking at the Fulton Armory criterion 18.5" match threaded barrels...still unsure if i'm going with the lighter chrome lined one or the .5lbs heavier. Stainless steel or not is still going through my mind. I figured i'd give the company a call when i'm ready to buy it and get their opinion to. Sucks because i need to buy the compensator and bolt carrier group first and send it to them before i get the barrel cause i need the comp pinned, probably the gas block and barrel nut on their first to because i doubt i could get that stuff over the compensator and i also have to have the bolt and the barrel headspaced...who knows how much that costs to.
