OK.... So I'm new to attending a "course". I get my fair share of shooting my work AR15, so there's "training". I shoot my AR10 at my leisure but now Im strongly considering w/ converting it ( AR10 ) into a Battle Rifle using it for Carbine courses, namely the MPD. w/ the cost of 308 ammo, would WOLF be "OK" to use ( 147g / grey casing ). so... any insight. thanx

Updated her awhile back; stripped off the paint, will consider repainting her after I get the carbine upper and new stock.; the ATS chesty, I added some ATS pouches to her. their AR-10 triple mag and pistol pouch. 2- of their M4 mag pouches ( holds 1 AR-10 ) 2- Eagle RG pistol pouches on the outer area. shes a basic "Battle chesty", everything I'd need I'd carry in my LF RAID pack.

Oh yeah Im well familiar with all the M14 / SR25 pouches out there. I was looking for an open top design, tho I am torn ( asusual ). My 1st initial thought was go with the old-school FLC, as i purchased this from Supply Captian. I still may being it's ( FLC ) only 60$. That atleast offers up more PALS area around the waist and upper chest. Not all to impressed with the ATS chesty to be honest. With magpulls on the Mags they are even tighter in the pockets. So I gonna cut all the dividers, relace the bungee strap and convert it to a 3-mag holder. This will give more clearence to grab for the mags. + I went with the Paraclete pouches onthe front. So that gives me the option to go 3-mags deep, for a total of 9 mags ready. Now ofcourse a debt is whether or not to run additional mag pouches in place of the Medical and GP. Cause I am one to run with a pack ( a Lightfighter RAID in CB ). So essentials will be packed in there. hmmmmmm the new year headache begins ! :P

Well not much to say here. Standard MOLLE platform. She offers up 14 useable PALS area; 3x4 on each of the sides and 3x3 on the front of the mag pouches. ** BUT NOTE ** there are / is 1- area of PALS webbing on the corners of the mag pocket. this will allow for 1- strap type MOLLE pouch to be attached ( ie: a pistol mag pouch / I have 2- Ranger Green added to this area ) as you can see here; these will hold my flashlight and Gerber multitool. Also I have the standard Chesty pouch setup 1- Medical / GP pouch (OD rightside ) 1- GP pouch w/ 4- pistol mag pouches ( left side ) Now the WONDERS ( annoyance ) of MOLLE Gear. HOW in the HELL to set it all up ? ! ! ! ! ? 1- set up has a blackhawk triple mag ; ( for a total of 7 mags at the ready ) or this one has 3- Paraclete SR-25 mag pouches ( each can hold 2 AR-10 mags / for a total of 10 mags ready not too mention front heavy and bulky if one were to go prone ) ** I should also mention that for some DAM reason the industry doesnt seem to "get-it". they build everything for the DPMS / KAC type of mags, so these pockets are tight for the AR-10 mag. I did cut one of the internal seperators, in order to allow the 4th mag to fit, as you can see here on the far right, they are stacked; AS for the rest, not bad, at somepoint tho I do wish that the "industry" would make a chesty that supports more PALS area, like push it up to 18 -22 slots. especially for the 762 platforms. I had hoped to get some DBT open top SR-25 mag pouches to have 8 mags, but with the width you can only fit 3- more additional pouches. Im trying real hard not to spend $$$$ on the "right" colors ( more DBT or Paraclete pouches ). Im trying to go with what I've got, if the world were to go all Anarchy tomorrow on us, kinda thing.... DAM I need more mags and ammo now... ;D.

I hope to purchase the 14 mount soon. I have the AP Micro scope mount, but to be honest, with the AP-M sitting that "high", the cheek weld is off. I have considered canting the AP-M down to be along the bottom side, till I saw that LaRue makes a seperate AP-M angled mount. I'm hoping to go that route....

Hey guys well not really much of a "build" being I already have one. More of an upgrade to the upper and stock. As a huge fan of the KAC SR-25 platform. I built my 1st AR-10 off that. Now... with the current economy and the cost of ammo. Would it be prudent of me to build an AR-15 ?!, WHY ! ? Is the Q? i've been wracking my brain with over the past few months. In my area, having access to a decent "long range" is next to near impossible. the locals only offer 110yrds at best WOW... what fun, So with the inevitable "wainting" for the world to end ( China nuke us, RED DAWN or the Zombies ) I figure I want something with some PUNCH and distance. So i've settled on building an intermediate Urban Assualt Sniper System. specs are at best; AR-10 16" PRI forend ( cause the SPR mod-O look is cool ) or A LaRue RAS leupold M3 ( for those wanna reach and touch'ya shots ) Aimpoint MICRO on a LaRaue angled QD mount ( for those too close for comfort shots ) tac-light Harris BP w/ Claws ( instead of the standard feet ) ( Phoenix Tactical ) Magpul ACS stock she sounds so perrty Hope to have it "built" by 03 2010., just in time for the Range and possibly some AR-courses.

Been shooting the 556 for the better part of 15+yrs now. Tho I wish I had the $$$ to spend on a multittude of AR's, it's a careful balance in the force ( Family ).
