The takedown detent is under the grip. It is a small problem putting the MIAD on, but I pushed the grip down just right and got it to work!! So what is this about a set screw? Im thinking that you tap the small hole where the spring goes in and put a set screw on top of the spring to hold it in. That would work, if that is what you are saying? Let me know and let me know the size of the hole and set screw if you already got that also...Thanks.....

I have started to piece together my .308 AR. I have a CMMG lower with a DPMS upper. The upper has a JP/Viking Tactical rifle length Freefloat forearm with a full rail on top and 2" rail on the bottom. I have a Miad Grip kit in CB and a VLTOR IMOD for a Stock to put on. The lower has a DPMS parts group. I have yet to get a Bolt and Bolt carrier, Buffer and Spring, Barrel and a scope mount and scope. I slapped on the flip up sites for now. Its a little quiet over here so I thought I would post something up.

I totally agree!! I did stand my ground and told him that I have not heard of any problems that are any different than a .223 platform. I told him and his sidekick that I was building one up from the ground and they just stood there and shook their heads? Anyways, it was 6 hours from where I live and won't be down there to much.

I have owned and built many AR15 .223 rifles and have also owned 2 SR25 .308 rifles in the past. My question is, What kind of problems am I going to run into once I am out on the range and shooting it for the first time? I went into a gun shop this weekend that had many, many, many AR15s and parts for ARs. They were very knowledgable about AR15s also. But, when I asked the owner what he had for AR.308 parts, he said he would never own one, nor ever carry parts for one. He said they are nothing by problems and they never function properly? Well, I don't really think he has delt with current manufactured guns, but not sure. I have not heard anyone say things like that on here either. What is your opinion on this? I don't think it is going to be a problem once everything is set up right. Does an adjustable gas block help with the function of the whole gas system on a .308? Anyone with solid experience please chim in here. Thanks a bunch!

You can put it in and find out. I guess the hammer and the Spring would be lighter, but if you are lucky, it will work out for you. I would try it. Then, report back and let us know how it went...Thanks

I'm fairly new to this AR .308 stuff, but I would talk to the guy that sells the "Heavy Buffers" over on the AR15 forum, in the AR10 section. He has heavy buffers and different spring setups. For HOT ammo, you could try some COR-BON ammo, all their ammo is loaded up pretty high. The specialize in HOT ammo.

I use to have 2 of these. The first one was one of the originals. It had the smooth FF handguard and I ordered it direct for $2000.00 shipped. The next one I got was the one that has the Railed handguard, it ran me about $2500.00. Sure wish I did not fall on hard times and had to sell. I am just now starting to build a .308 from the ground up.

Just picked me up a CMMG Lower and I am set to build me a .308. Its nice to find another interesting hobby, now that I have had alot of fun with my AR15s.

Have you guys tried a Standard Trigger, then send it to Bill Springfield in Colorado? He does an excelent job and it is very crisp. I add my touch to this by tapping out the grip screw hole all the way and get a 1/2 inch set screw to fit it. Then, screw it all the way in with Blue Loctite until the trigger fires. Then back it out 7/8th inch and there you go. No slop or overtravel and a very nice 3lb pull for a fraction of the cost of an aftermarket trigger. Anyone else try this?

I am going to go with their lightest one they make. Says it 15% lighter than the lightest DPMS. I am going to try and build the lightes possible gun I can. I am trying to figure what barrel I am going to use. Maybe just stay with SI Defense barrel. It has sort of a M4 profile to it, and they have taken all material off except where it is needed, ie. the gas block point and where the threads are. Anyone have any suggestions on something better? I am also going with the DD 12 LITE Handguard, as I also want the gas block covered. Scope and mount and no backup sites, as this is going to be my coyote gun at times when I don't want to shoot the AR15. But, still going to try out the .50 Cal on coyote sometime. Thanks for any help or suggestion given.
