  1. 1-10 means bullet turns 1 full turn in 10 inches.. maybe with a barrel that has 6 groves, at least that is how I learned it
  2. the fix on AR type platform. would be to find out which part...either your bolt or your barrel with barrel extention on is out of spec. there is no adjustment, they are built to be within and industry standard, anything else is unsafe. hey ask someone how you build a barrel and install barrel extention, everytime I asked elsewhere.it like trade secret and if you dint know how then you no one is willing to tell or teach.. I have even tried to find something in writing.. found nothing Nada. zilch. if some tells us how to do it, they would have to kill us.
  3. I was just doing a search for a barrel for my build and on one of the site;s I read that you should not be shooting SS in cold weather because it will cause stress cracks , is this true. most of the DPMS barrels are SS, how much of a problem is this really.
  4. I am looking for 1 of my last 2 parts to finish this build, I want a barrel, would like to have a 24" fluted barrel with threaded end so I could put flash suppressor or compensator , or just a band to protect the threads.. Would settle for a nice 20" heavy barrel fluted as long as it is threaded for muzzle device. even a 18' if I have to buy dint want the head aches getting a mid gas system working correctly, plus on the sass have not figured the gas block yet. I really dint want to take barrel to work for threading as it is not a happy place for that,, it only takes a few min to get it done or caught AND fired.. 18" heavy would b nice with long standard gas tube,,does that or is that available?
  5. is extractor easy to remove without any special tools. I bought a tool for the AR then found I didn't really need it.
  6. I was checking for answers I already knew but wanted confirmed: plus I never fire anything I have built without doing check on headspacing. this will be my 4th 308win. build but first on AR plate form, 2 fnfal. 1 re barrel of 110 savage which shoot sub MOA , good for such a cheap build, and now this LR308.
  7. this has me confused (easily done) if I check measurement as posted here I have old style receiver if I check method posted on another site " measure tab above the charging handle " then I have new .. will either one make this weapon shoot worse or better?
  8. from what I have read , yes I have both sitting in front of me and I can see a difference
  9. Am I correct that these should headspace correctly if all parts are new, like the smaller AR15's we can not adjust headspacing without machine work. if the headspacing is in correct it is because part is wrong. either the bolt or the barrel and do we need to take bolt apart when we check headspacing? I have all 3 headspace gauges,
  10. I have all the gauges but would like to know the proper method to check headspacing on the DPMS LR 308.
  11. thanks for the heads up, just ordered mine plus the 1911
  12. Hi. :) I am starting on my first AR platform 308. have DPMS upper and lowers, I guess I am going to use mostly DPMS parts, I like the look of the SASS but the little I have read I don't think I will build that one. I m going to send fire control group to bill Springfield for a 3.5 lb trigger. want threaded barrel even if I put thread protector on it. I have built 2 fnfals and 7 AR15's so I am not completely in dark on this build. they are just bigger parts. I have no idea what FFT to use, it is cold out side and don't know if they can take the abuse. I dont have any safe queens, shoot at home every week and go to range on average every other week. do some reloading . that's enough info hope to contribute here with some post not just sit on side lines
