  1. Sounds to me like your barrel nut has loosened. If the build isn't that old, it may just need retorqued. Aluminum threads can stretch slightly on initial torque on almost any aluminum assembly. That may be why Troy called for 50lbs.
  2. I use the UBR and Heavy Buffer from Slash. Both are awesome. On my AR10, the two give a great balance to the rifle. Very neutral at the grip/magazine well region.
  3. Advanced Armament Corp. Blackout Brake. I love mine. Does the job well. With a Heavy Buffer, my AR10 is more like a 5.56 rifle.
  4. Why is this thread still going?? If you have $1k, save another $300 and buy the E10A4CBMF from Armalite. It's Eagle Arms, but I'm sure if Armalite is selling it on their website it's not junk. This whole project sounds like more trouble that it's worth. Order the EA rifle, pay for it, and go shooting. Or hold off, and save a few more beans and spring for the Armalite AR-10A4C.
  5. You know, it's funny. It seems as long as our military has had rifles, the damn things come out to 9-10lbs. The long and the short of it is you just get used to whatever your rifle weighs. I have thought about getting a piece of stock from our metal supplier that is roughly the same length and weight to carry in my hands when back packing (the park district kind of frowns on me carrying my AR10 ;) )
  6. Realistically, my AR10 has about the same recoil as a 5.56. I run an AAC Blackout Brake and have a Heavy Buffer. It all weighs in at about 9lbs with the UBR stock. I carried an M203 for a while in the service, as well as an M60 when I was younger. The M203 is about 9-10lbs. So the weight I'm used to. The entire course of fire is 800-1000 rounds for the total two days. So I figure about 400/day. We'll see. I'll let you guys know what it was like.
  7. And if you could:
  8. Glad to see I'm not the only HK fan. :D H&K USP 45 Tactical for my "heavy" days. H&K USP 45 CT for my "Light" days. <lmao>
  9. Does anyone know of an add on rail that will fit the MOE hand guard, 2 or 10 o'clock position, that will put the accessory 90* to the ground? I have a Insight M6X, and to use the laser elevation and windage it needs to no be on a 45* angle. Might just be a stupid question as well.
  10. Hahaha. Yes. Two of them. Both are crazy. One lives in Australia, the other is dating a married Muj whom she left her husband of 10 years for. Take your pick. And good luck to you sir. <lmao>
  11. Yeah, not sure why the link won't link in. You have to go to www.greygrouptraining.com, then Training, then Instructors, and click on Kyle Defoor. It's pretty juch just a carbine class, but it's a great substitute for a guy (like me) that's not operating any longer and misses it. Here's the synopsis of the class: KYLE DEFOOR 2 DAY ADVANCED CARBINE 26-27 MAY 2012 - WATERMAN, IL Advanced Carbine course is recommended for those that have attended shooting courses before or who have a thorough understanding of carbine basics and already have safe gun handling skills. Topics covered: Accessories, weapon setup, slings, gear, sights, optics, ballistics, cleaning/lube Safety Fundamentals Accuracy Positions Speed Barricades Shooting on the move Reloads Malfunctions Multiple targets Running with a carbine Shooting under stress, shooting tests Night shoot (Facility Dependent) Projection, awareness, land marking, mindset Some drills require physical exertion and an elevated heart rate. Military and LE members are welcomed, encouraged to wear their gear and weapons as they would for their application. Days are typically 9-10 hours in length with a short lunch break. Certificates are given upon successful completion of shooting tests.
  12. So, my wife and I are at the local gun show on Sunday. We're looking at the usual stuff, and she spies some Dag 7.62 battle packs. They were still $95/ea. And she asks if that's a good price. I answered that it was, and that it was drying up so the price had gone up. She says, "let's get you some." I'm replied I didn't know if I really needed any right now, and she comes back with, "you'll need 800 rounds for the end of May." "HUH?" "You're taking a class at the end of May. Happy Valentines-Anniversary-Birthday." "REALLY?! What one?" This one: [ftp=ftp://store.greygrouptraining.com/2-DAY-ADVANCED-CARBINE.html]http://store.greygrouptraining.com/2-DAY-ADVANCED-CARBINE[/ftp] F-n A brothers, she's a keeper.
  13. I do not. I'm trying to learn to a bit though. They didn't have the fancy shooting/tac gloves when I was operating. We just had Nomex aviator gloves. Sometimes with the thumb and forefinger cut off. So I still use those when it's a bit cold. But generally no gloves when at a class or just shooting. That long winded answer being said, can anybody recommend modern tac gloves? Oakley? What model?
  14. How does the OBR stand up to all this? They offer 16, 18, and 20" barrels. Anybody know?
  15. Why not change your order to the AR10-A4C. Rail version. Why get the carry handle if you're wanting to mount optics?
