  1. So my buddy who has more money than skills (had to teach him how to break down his own rifle) asked me to do his EBR swap for his Socom 16. So being the good friend I said I would do it. Other than the piston guide it was pretty straight forward. It was my first build of an EBR so it took me almost a hour and a 1/2 to swap out the piston guide. Also he had a scope mount that I had to cut down and paint to work with the EBR stock. What do you all think?
  2. From the info I got they reworked the bolt and gas system for the 7.62x39. Also they put 30,000+ steel cased rounds through it in testing without issue. It is most likely going to be my next rifle.
  3. Some buddies and I went shootin' on Sunday. I picked up some FN 7.62x51 from the 70s and wanted to see how well it shoots. This is at 100yds and my scope on 10x. The target is a 25yd M16 sight in sheet. Its 8"x11" my grouping is within 2". Not bad for surplus that is older than me.
  4. This is a great post from another thread. You should watch the video.
  5. Not a problem. I thought that others should know about your product. It really helped my rifle and you answered all of my questions promptly before I bought it. Thanks.
  6. So you would not recommend these?
  7. The old ones were a rubber material (very lethal at close range). All of the current military sim rounds that I have ever used are a subsonic chalk like material that disintegrates on impact. I have been hit on bare skin at 10ft and it did not break skin but it sure left a welt. To be lethal you need to be in the point blank range. These are lethal at over 100yds.
  8. From what I understand they are not Sim rounds they are plastic bullets. They are suppose to be able to penetrate a 2x4. Unlike Sim rounds these are lethal at close range.
  9. When I was searching for bulk plinking ammo I came across this http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=8699&dir=18|830|848 They are made by H&k for the p91. They have a special bolt for it to cycle. It is a 10gr plastic round with 12grs of powder and travels at 3500-4700fps. From what I understand it is accurate out to about 100-300yds and recoils like a .22lr. I was wondering if anyone here had used them and would give me their 2 cents? It is hard to pass up 1000rds for under $200 but turning my semi-auto into a bolt action does not sound like fun after 20-30 rounds.
  10. Here it is
  11. It is the A4 rifle, I got it right before thanks giving. I have put about 300 factory and surplus rounds through it. I was around the 200 round mark when I changed buffers.
  12. I was getting double feeds with the Poly and steel mags and this seems to have fixed the issue. Also I got a knockoff limb saver but wanted to see if the buffer would make any difference first and it did. No marks and I was also able to put 20 rapid fired rounds into a piece of paper (8"x11") at 60yds without a miss from a supported seated position.
  13. I went with the rifle one with heavy spring. It has the anti tilt built in and weighs I am guessing twice as much as the stock one. I have the A2 stock on mine. Before the new buffer the hard plastic would leave marks on my shoulder after about 20-30 rounds. I put over 100 through it without a mark or a single double feed. Also I had an issue with brass shavings clogging up my extractor. After 100+ rounds I could only find 2 pieces compared to the 20-30 pieces I found after 30-40 rounds the last time I fired it. I don't know if it fixed it or the piece that was shaving it off has smoothed out.
  14. I have been having an issue of double feeding. Same as this video. I was recommend to go to www.heavybuffers.com It solved my issue and reduced my felt recoil. I highly suggest it to anyone with an LAR-8.
  15. I have the A4 LAR-8. It has the 20" on it and yesterday me and a group of buddies were hitting targets at beyond 500yds with surplus ammo. I have a couple of buddies that are Marine snipers that use a M110 with a 20" and are hitting man sized targets around the 1000yd mark. I think if you want to shoot farther than that you should look into a 50cal.
  16. That is what I am looking for but will a .751 work on a .750? I know it is only .001. I am just unsure on the tolerances of the gas system.
  17. Close. I am looking for the full size on all 4 rails.
  18. The RRA Chrome Molly Barrel uses a .750 gas block. I would like to find a non-low pro quad rail gas block. Does anyone know were I can find one. I have looked high and low on the net and have been unsuccessful.
  19. Thank you.
  20. 98Z5V, Nice set up. What scope mount are you using on it? I need something that will bring mine high enough for my scope to sit over my sights like yours.
  21. Robocop1051, Thank you. These are the things I need to hear from people that have used the products.
  22. Edgecrusher is correct.
  23. My next purchase will be a A2 stock. I am looking at the Magpul PRS or the CAA SRSNL (No mono pod). I can get them for the same price so that is no issue. The PRS only has two points of adjustment but it is a proven system. The PRS also has to be modified for the LAR-8. The SRSNL has 4 points of adjustment but is new to the market. Also no modifications required.
  24. Well for now I am just going to have to keep it as clean as possible until I can get it in the shop or to someone that knows a lot more than me. Thank you all for the info.
