  1. In another article i read on this debate this point was raised. With a little added to it. With DI you get the standardization of parts, while with the piston you have many different manufactures with many different designs, parts, and features. So if five years from now your manufacture was to tank, or switch designs, the only maker of parts was them. Where as if i buy a Bravo Company BCG and tomorrow they disappeared, i could still find 10 other makers that would work.
  2. As the title says, im looking for an ARMALITE Ar10 bolt carrier group. Forward assist cuts not needed, but im not picky. These seemed to have vanished from the face of the earth and no source, not even Armalite will tell a lag time. Also links to any sites you know of that sell them. Im on notify list with DSG, Rainier, Armalite, and Delta 3 Tac. Any others would be welcomed in a PM.
  3. 13.8 Trx comes flush with the outward end of my badger ordinance low pro block.
  4. Not my cup-o-tea, but may i suggest a 6.5 Grendel. As it is one of the better long range accuracy rounds for the AR.
  5. If its Armalite, and $300 or under id buy one... or more. Just need more places selling Armalite BCG's period.
  6. Depends on how much cash. If it were enough to fund partially rebuilding the 308. Or i had other newer projects and the 308 didn't mean that much given the new direction. Honestly if it doesn't really gain you anything, or meet your needs then why bother. If you really want a Scar H but want the 308 as well, save your pennies and buy one, they're cheaper than what you build yourself apparently.
  7. Now im even more interested, where did you find a $150 Armalite BCG?! Also still wondering where you sent it, and how much for that.
  8. Who did your coatings and how much, im about to purchase a Armalite BCG but would prefer chrome or Nib. Also, pics.
  9. Troy 13.8 TRX... why, why must i continue to find good deals on stuff.

    Barrett?

Any more info on this, or a link to a site with the original story? Or is this more of a i stumbled across this on google images?
  11. Still gathering bits for my build but received my match set of Megas and i must say they are very nice. The FFL who received them for me was also quite impressed, and said he might snag a set for his next build. The finish is flawless and fit is perfectly tight on all pieces, not to snug and not to loose. They do tend to cost a bit more, but with a little hunting can be found for good prices. "Other AR15 sites" have coupon codes that can get the price pretty darn low at Aim.
  12. I now have the buffer/spring/and rifle length tube in the mail, along with a nice 4 round mag.
  13. Lowest i currently know of is this at $184.95 Hamlund Tac has them for $194.99, and does sales somewhat frequently.
  14. Yeah, your lining up a notch to clear your gas tube. Then your putting on the second piece that threads onto the barrel nut, following JP's instructions. link to instructions
  15. Youtube a few videos of it, typically there ar 15's but the process is the same. Once you see a few, and a couple of different methods they use, you'll see its not that complex a deal. I've seen a few with no torque wrench, and just lining up the gas tube holes once its fairly snug. Then there's the "do it three times" camp, where you tighten to spec, line the hole, then undo it all and repeat it two more times. So watch a few, pick one you think is good and use that. Im a fan of torquing to the lowest spec, then twisting to the next hole lines up, being sure not to exceed the max spec.
  16. Mega MaTen matched set.
  17. Having chose to build a .338f I'm a little biased. I chose the .338 just to not ever have to worry about what I'm targeting, if it goes up to elk its gtg. Quality ballistics and knock down power, in something only mildly "exotic" caught my attention as well. Also getting a deal on the barrel played a small role. Choice in barrels and manufacturer are limited in the .338f so weigh that in as well. As Armalite only makes a 22" and DPMS only does an 18". With only one "off the shelf" rifle offering each. Other than that i didn't stumble into any other makers, but my knowledge of the numerous online locations is very limited. In the end for me, its a hunting rifle. Its not going to the range to put 1000's of rounds though, its sighting in, and back to its case. So ammo cost for me, reloading, isnt a huge concern as maybe 100 rounds a year will go through it once its got a good load.
  18. From that same site you can get the set for $525 with one of there coupon codes. Though i don't know there policy about spreading that code around off the site where i got it. A little googling or "other posting methods" might work.
