So I have a Mag pull stock mil spec, and the carbine extension tube. I need a "extended" buffer tube for that?
-
Yes... Armalite AR-10 H3 buffer and spring. The "AR-10" and "LR-308" extension tubes were sold out everywhere and I figured out they are the same as AR-15 tubes. So Armalite "AR-15" tube and AR-10 buffer/spring.
-
Everytime I ead this I get confused. So, I bought a Armalite carbine AR15/16 extension tube, Armalite AR-10 spring and buffer(H3 carbine). All going on my DPMS lower. Does all that work, or do I need to cut down the spring a few coils?

I want to say Dec. 30th. But I can't be sure since the site is down. The status changed to "printed" a couple of days ago and it shipped today.

YEP! My upper and 20" SS Hvy barrel shipped today. I ordered a chrome carrier and key a week ago, so I should have it in a couple of weeks. The only ridiculous thing I did was buy a JP Ent. Enhanced bolt off Gun broker. New, $320... ouch. I felt pretty silly about that until a DPMS plain phosphate bolt went for the same amount. :cookoo: No bolts anywhere. I also bought that stripped carrier off Arms list for a reasonable price. I will sell it when I get he FA carrier in.
-
Now that I have verified parts shipped, I have several back orders I need to cancel Monday. I'm on the back order list at Brownells for pmags... that one stays. ;D
-
JP bolt. FA upper and barrel. Got my trigger today. My upper parts yesterday!!!
-
WOO HOO.... Upper and barrel shipped today!!! That means my chrome stripped carrier will be in a couple more weeks. The site is down again, but when it is up, what they show is what they HAVE, and it will get shipped out. The only thing I need now is a scope and ammo. <thumbsup>

You want my honest answer? No, you are a dying breed. It has been going on for some time. A societies natural tendency is to abrigat responsibility to others for them to take care of. We started as a republic, and WE have been giving power back to the state every since. You are just taking an up close snap shot... zoom out. It has been going on for 200 years. Sorry. The only way things change is a reset by Mother Nature. Yellowstone, meteor, mass coronal ejection that fries every electronic thing on the planet... only then will we return to the true meaning of living free. -
Ya... and you are describing me... I have always wanted a .308... but it was just so far down the list it really didn't matter... well it got moved to the top and here I am. I'm not willing to pay any price, but yes I want one..... as far as the election... meh. But Sandy Hook... that changed things. I have been watching stuff on Gun Broker. DPMS plain BGC without pin $700. Buy it now price was $450. Lowers going for $800. A DPMS bolt... just the bolt.. $305. DPMS LPK... $175. Crazy!

In case anyone is following this... FA site has changed. They had their "side cock" bolt carriers and uppers in stock just two days ago... but now they are no longer there. The stuff still on still says "in stock". My order status has changed from "received" to "printed", what ever that means. But it does mean things are updating and stuff is moving. While it might take a while to get an order, it at least appears what they say is in stock is in stock... that includes, uppers, bolt carriers, and stripped lowers. They still show rifles and complete uppers too so there is that.... I'm talking about .308
-
I'm willing to let you see mine when I get it... maybe. But as to the question above... I'll have to get it ID'ed to actually know what it is.
-
And that's it too... I'm really not complaining. Everyone is slammed and they are doing the best they can. FA is spoke of highly and I know that does not come free. You guys that have been around a while sort of know a little bit better how it is, but a newbie such as me has nothing to go by. Thanks for all the input. I have my shipping notices of everything else, so I will just wait for FA and be happy I did I'm sure. Time to put the crack down. ;D
-
That's good. I guess I will just let it ride.
-
Well that's cool. I ordered a barrel and the option is threads, or no threads. I can wait if it takes awhile. Seems, DPMS, RRA, and Armalite is no real option. Put in a order with no real hopes of ever seeing it. GB may be expensive... but waiting 6 moths and then paying for what is left will be even more. Just trying to hedge my bets.
-
That's comforting. In the big picture... I'm in no hurry. I have a complete lower and that is all I need. Do you know about their "In Stock" on their site? I'm guessing that means "put in an order"... and not really "available".
-
I'm good to go.
-
All my parts have shipped. The only thing I need is a stripped upper and barrel. I have an order in with FA... but who knows when or if I will ever see them.
-
So I am finally figuring out the shortage has been around long before I jumped in. things have been out in .308 for a while. Everyone now seems to be concerned with rifles and parts are no where to be found. Parts on GB... forget about it.. 3x normal price. FA had their site closed a couple of times now to catch up. Their phone is off, and they won't return e-mails. I get it, they are slammed. So how were they before this? I mean their site still has stuff available... but is it actually available? I have an order for a upper and barrel... but my guess is it isn't actually available and it will be months if not a year before I see it, if ever. Any info on the subject? I mean it sounds like DPMS has always taken forever and never on time... maybe RRA too, some folks always point to FA as the place to go to, but I don't know.
-
NEW QUESTION: I managed to secure a striped carrier. It was new, but raw steel. Guy had it parkerized. It has FA serrations, and it is DPMS pattern. Does anyone know who would make that carrier? It does nt have any markings, and I am puzzled that a new carrier would come with no coating of some sort. Just trying to get some piece of mind.
-
Sweet, just found that too. So there are keys still out there. I have a book on building AR-15... lots of good stuff on staking. The key should be the only part I need still.... well besides all the "virtual" parts I ordered in la-la land. We will see if it ever hits my door step.
-
Ya, I bought a stripped carrier and there is no key in the pic. So I need a key and of course stake it. Not too many keys out there, but I think I can use AR-15 keys. I would feel better using a DPMS key, but things are a little slim these days. Ya, that is what I thought... the barrel nut, and then you need outter threads fro the fore arm to attach to. So I thought the nut that came with the fore arm would be good and not buying an additional one.
-
I think I have managed to gather all my parts. Right now, I need a gas key. Looking at DPMS, it seems they list the same part for AR-15 and .308. Can I use any AR carrier key/DPMS? I am assembling my upper. I just got a cheap DPMS forearm right now. Says it comes with a new barrel nut. I assume you need it to install the forearm. So do I need a different barrel nut to install my barrel? I have my gas parts, but is there any other fastener parts for the barrel? Thanks
-
I am not even going to tell you guys what I just paid for a JP bolt. At least I'm committed to DPMS. No AR-10 stuff now. I might have a carrier, or will order one from Fulton as soon as they open back up.... if they still have any.
-
Is it "silent". Does it "feel" better. That actually sounds pretty cool.
