Not until the beginning of next year. EDIT: Sorry such a vague answer, hope you understand.

Unless he has another non-threaded barrel he can swap it out with
-
Well there goes this pistol...talking with the FFL holder on my end; since it has a threaded barrel it is not a CA compliant handgun, therefore, it can't be transferred out here :wtf: Unless someone knows differently?!?! I sincerely appreciate the generosity and everyone's willingness to do so! I'm truly humbled by it all! imschur it's looks like it is yours if you want it. 0-2 (no Para Expert and No threaded barrels)

I'm waiting to hear back from him to see if he can do PP. I've sent him a PM, just waiting for a response. If not I have another option....again, Thank you all very much!
-
Thank you for the heads up shibiwan! I replied over there as well and contacted the seller! Thanks again to everyone and their generosity! As said over there I'm truly at a loss for words! Thank you!
-
Wow, I really appreciate this guys! Thank you all very much for the generosity (literally at a loss for words) Thank you....I've gotta run this by the wife and make sure she is good with it. Next month was really the target, but if she's good with it I can probably make this happen. Damn, still not sure what to say! Be back in touch soon!

Ho-hum....I should've known and leave it to CA! The Para Expert is not CA compliant (whatever in the freak that means!) However, the Para Elite is for 300 more! :auto: With all the suggestion of the XD's I guess I need to go and re-shoot one or two. I shot one years ago and didn't like the feel of it. I think maybe after years of carrying a Beretta M9 and now carrying a M45 CQB for work purposes I like the feel of a "full metal" gun. Shame on me, but I've never shot a Glock either...guess I should get behind one of those. How are the RIA pistols? Our exchange has them in case for a really fair price. I am by no means a gun snob; however, I am a firm believer of you get what you pay for. If things work out this winter; my boy and I will be returning to Kansas for a deer/turkey hunt at which time and still being a resident of Kansas I can get my hands on damn near anything and I will save my money to pick up something there. Thanks guys and if something else comes to mind keep it coming...gives me more resources to explore and options to choose from. A local shop has a Springfield Gov't Model with night sights for 726, I can push my budget a little bit, but anything beyond that and I think I'll be able to pick up that P220 (which I swore would be my first .45). I'll look at the 227's also! Any of you all ever use gunbroker? If so how was your experience?
-
what would it be? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . And GO! I've been looking at the Para Ordnance Expert, open to suggestions though! I like, let me re-phrase that....LOVE the Sig P220 in .45; however, that's not in the budget this go round.

Robo- One of the guys I work with carries an Emerson commander and that wave feature is what really turned me on to it. Both my folders I carry now are autos; however, I like the G-10 grips and how "sticky" they are. Both of my folders are slick and without a good grip I could foresee my hand sliding down the blade if things were to get sticky. If you really want to pick up another the cheapest I have found them is on eBay, there are a couple of authorized dealers on there letting them go for $170 a piece with free shipping. Thanks for the heads up on the sale (I may be a little late now :( ). DNP- I hear you on the buy once, cry once. I'm still really learning towards that direction and just doing it from the get go. I need to get my pistol(s) bought first; momma needs some night stand protection before I push out the door. I want to get her gun and her behind it multiple times before leaving so I can ensure she's comfortable with it. We don't live out in the sticks or in a rough area; however, the sherriffs dept. is the only one who patrols our hood and they are rarely around plus about 20 or so minutes out. For some reason trouble has been picking up a bit in our area (car thefts mainly) with some unknowns sitting around in parked cars. Plus, she has a high vis job (as a non-sworn LEO), not allowed to carry "off duty" yet deals with every gang banger, transient and trouble maker who gets arrested in the area she works. She's already been "identified"/yelled at by some gang bangers while off duty and in plain clothes so that tells they're watching her. I've even tried to convince her to apply for her CCW (I'd have better piece of mind while deployed knowing that she and my kids would have fighting chance if something was to come up), yet she doesn't think she'll get it just due to CA law. I'm sure everything will be fine...as we all know though it's better to have and not need, than to need and not have!

Thanks everyone....good to be back on the board that is, I haven't left yet. Headed to the Stan early next year, just in the work up pipeline right now. As for knives I have found several I want and now it is just a matter of whittling (pun intended) them down to a select few to take in country with me. Winkler makes some really nice knives and I like his belt knife for a conceal carry knife, the microtech currahee is slick blade. Dawson makes some really nice fighting knives and Spartan blades has some nice fighting knives. My next folder wil be the Emerson Commander BT. Tops are nice knives, treeman makes some really nice ones. Strider, Zero Tolerance, Kramer....there are tons of them. It's hard to narrow it down :D I figured I need at least 3 blades (one pocket folder, one in my kit (visible carry), one in my back (concealed). May seem like a lot of blades to carry; however, you gotta know the mission first and the possibilities of blue on green. The Emerson will be pocket blade backed up by a couple different Benchmade autos, the Currahee will be my kit blade backed up by a Benchmade Nimravus, my CC knives are undetermined at this time. On another note glad to some familiar faces still around and everyone doing well. I've pretty much got my lower built out in my head with the exception of the trigger. I'd pretty much decided on the SSA-E unitl I talked to one our Precision Weapon guys (gun smiths) at work and he told me to buy the 65 dollar trigger and he could make it perform almost just as well as the SSA/-E. I may give that a shot and if I'm not happy swap it out. Buffer, stock, and grip are all decided on. My upper will match my lower and I believe I'm going to send it in and have it fitted with a Krieger barrel, free floating, etc. Not sure about the BCG... Anyways, time to finish up breakfast and get my boy to baseball! Good to see ya'll again!

How goes it everyone? Haven't been around in a while; however, life gets the best of us sometimes and I've been in the pipeline for another deployment, buying a house, getting settled, etc. The build has been on the put back burner as well as my fishing and everything else. It is what it is...I had a little time on my hands this morning so I though I'd drop by. I think the direction our country is heading or the position we are in even has my wife a little nervous as she came to me the other day and said it's time to buy a couple more pistols and finish my build, can't argue with that logic as there for a while she had a little @$$ burn with my 308 build (another reason it was put to the side). I've developed a new interest over the past few months as well and that is knives. Another hobby the wife isn't to keen on, but I think once she learns how to really use one she'll take a liken to them. Anyways, I hope all is well over here and as I progress through my build I'll post up :D I haven't quite finalized what direction I want to take it; however, I think that will come to fruition as I piece it together. I'd really like to use it for long range shooting (targets) as well as deer and elk (never elk hunted, but they're on my to hunt list). Who knows....
-
I hear ya, mine goes 4 ways (guns, truck, harley, fishing) hence slow progress on everything...LOL
-
Thanks Zebra and everyone else... Nice Road King in your avatar pic! Next step is to order my trigger followed by buffer/spring/tube...this house buying stuff has a put a damper on a lot of things. We close in a couple of days and then it should be down hill from there.
-
I'm in no real rush...I still have a long way to go on this build.
-
I can't remember where I read it; however, I will do some digging and see if I can't find it. I don't believe everything I read on the interweb, but I couldn't find anything that backed the claim up and then started to find more instances where they being put in 308's with no complaints. Then I became confused.... Thanks 98 as I like the idea of a lighter trigger pull too... Any recommendations on a BCG? I was looking at JP's
-
so far? So I've been thinking long and hard about this. Truth be told I've contemplated selling my lower and LPK several times. Then I put some serious though and effort where I wanted to take my build. So here are my thoughts on the lower: I think I have a CMMG LPK (I'll have to double check)...roll with it or find another LPK? Geissele SSA or SSA-E (was originally set on SSA-E then read it doesn't have enough "umph" for a .308, can any disspel that?) Heavy Buffers Rifle length buffer/spring/tube Magpul PRS Ergo Grip pistol grip with palm shelf BAD ambi safety UPPER DPMS 308 Upper BCG- suggestions? Krieger Barrel Gas block- suggestions? Handguard- Haven't decided on those either. What am I missing? When the time comes I plan on throwing a Nightforce piece of glass Other suggestions?

I'm a little behind on the power curve here; however, check with MCCS there at CLNC if they open the sniper range on the weekends. I know here at CPEN they open at least one of the KD ranges for us to bring personal weapons out to shoot. I never make it out towards Horno (home of the 1k range) on the weekends to see if MCCS opens that one. Worth a shot though.... EDIT: Where about in KS do you call home? I grew up in the SE corner in Chanute.

Thanks guys for the input; it is greatly appreciated! I'm looking at using my AD military status to try and sneak into a few gunsmith classes put on by Colt/Remington, etc. I was just informed by our armorer that Glock was just at our armory putting on classes for anyone that wanted to attend, but no one passed word! This is just something I think I would enjoy as a hobby. Not for a profession and the only personal gain would be shooting something I built. I enjoy working with my hands and figuring out how things work, taking them apart, putting them together, etc. Thanks again all...I really appreciate it!

That's what I gathered and I was looking around last night I noticed companies like Caspian and Fusion sold matched sets to alleviate this problem. Looks like imschur pointed out much more than that though ??? Thanks for the lead on the books. I'll look into them. I like to read about things I want to learn about (about the only time I read). Appreciate the info as well. I didn't realize it could be so much more labor intensive. I'd read where some guys has to drill this or ream that to get a little better fit.
-
Who's done it? I was over at our armory signing for some fun to shoot (M2's/240G :))) this upcoming week and got to talking to our armorer about building guns. He took me in and showed me some 1911's he's building or built; it's something I've never thought of. So I thought I'd ask here, who's done it? Would you do it again? Are we just better off buying one from the shop? This is no endeavor I'm looking at doing tomorrow, but some time down the road if the juice is worth the squeeze. From what research I've done it seems like anything else. It can be done on the cheap or cost an arm and leg.

Hell yeah it is, I'd love to drive one just once... Shoot, that's a really good price. I was looking at a similar bag in a local store last night and they wanted 185 for it. I can't remember who in the world made it though. Looked just like the bags our snipers carry (I know that doesn't tell anyone anything...LOL)

http://youtu.be/rFQGdQlMEYo or one of these, he running a LSX :laughing4: Tim Cameron, Jordan and Ethan run some sweet rigs
-
That is awesome, how in the world do you get into that? Hell, where you do get a falcon/hawk? I've got a tomahawk <dontknow>
-
There are some sand rails out there with some "crazy" mods to them. I don't want or need 40" of travel. I'd take the 600 horses and nothing would make me laugh harder than smoking some of these yuppies out here in a big 'ol 4 wheel drive.
-
I'm a Ford guy at heart and if they're set ups weren't driver side drop on 4 wheel drives I'd love to try and stuff one of their turbo diesels under the hood. Novak Machine makes an adapter that'll mate an Allison transmission to a Cummins diesel and I've considered that. I'm just not sure I want to invest the money in to R&D to get the darn thing to fit, if it even will. I met another Scouter who had two of the old Nissan diesel motors (the engines the diesel Scouts came with) for sale, but his prices were as bad a PMAG prices right now. Diesel would probably be the way to go, you can tune them for a multitude of things and get great gas mileage out of them. A LS7 motor could be a lot of fun too. I came across a CTS-V motor with a supercharger the other day that could be awesome under the hood. Sorry 98 didn't mean to hijack your thread!
