  1. Where about in Kansas? I grew up there (Chanute) and we do have some big damn cottontails. Our rule of thumb was rabbit was no good until after the first freeze. That first freeze seemed to kill about 99.9% of the diseased ones off. I went back in Dec to do a deer and turkey hunt. The only thing I miss about KS (hunting and fishing) besides my mom and brother.
  2. Thanks brother...I dig it. Could use a little love and the wife despises the color. First thing she wanted me to do after I bought it was get it painted...LOL! Told me she didn't want that "ugly thing" parked in front of her house...so I pulled it in the drive way!
  3. It's gas...still has the original 345 in it. All stock motor with the exception of the carb and intake (Holley 4 barrel on it). Between the 33 gallon tank, the motor, its 10 gallon to the mile fuel mileage and gas being over 4 bucks a gallon out here it doesn't get driven very often. Future plans entail 8 lug axles, 37"s on beadlocks, 3 link front and 4 link rear, big Chevy motor, NV4500 trans, Atlas II transfer and a little body work (got some rust that needs help). Like I said those are plans, lets see what the budget says (e.g. wife). My son wants it and if I put that kind of money into it I might have to buy another and do a small build on it for him. They're easy to come by in SoCal
  4. Rest assured I didn't pay for it. Well, I did pay for the egg plant at the store. It started out as a joke between the wife and I then I couldn't let it go to waste. Granted I threw it all away after the first bite. Yes, I agree though I don't understand or see how anyone could pay for it. It smelled good when I was slicing it up.
  5. My wife has a damn good job in CA and we got into a pissing contest here a while back about buying house out here (we're both from Kansas). I told her I didn't want to buy a house out here or live out here after I retired due to their dumb ass gun laws. That flew over like a fart in church... Calguns has a lot of good info in regards to gun laws, etc for CA.
  6. Little bunny foo-foo got a nice club to the back of the head. You hit 'em just right and they crumple like a sack of feed. If not you grab the body and head then twist in opposite directions. The really seems to finish the job up. I'll eat damn near anything or try it at least once. I haven't eaten much that I don't like. I tried grilled eggplant the other night and that poop was gross! If I was hungrier than a hostage and that's all I had I'd eat, but I won't it eat it by choice anymore. Sorry guys it took me so long to respond, been busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.
  7. Yes it is 4 wheel drive and is a 72. I have big plans for it, we'll see what happens after I get a freaking house bought. Sorry Tom didn't mean to entice you with more goodies <lmao> Thanks everyone. I enjoy it, this is the 2nd I've owned. The first one I had in HS and what a perfect truck for a highschooler, I put that one through the ringer and was a 3rd generation owner. My son wants this one. We'll see if he gets this one or if I buy him another one.
  8. I was told to post these here, I'm' guessin' 98 needs this too...
  9. LOL, glad to see things never change! I'll post up a pic or two of the Scout, gotta locate them first. Everything I ate in school wasn't that bad. I went 36 hours without food and then we got a rabbit and had some stew. I then went another 48 hours without food and after that we were finished. I had some sardines and rice before the initial 36 hour period without food. It wasn't that bad.
  10. How's everyone been? Sorry, I've been a stranger I was at a "survival" school courtesy of the USMC/USN for the last couple of weeks! Some of the best damn training I never want to do again...LOL! I haven't made any progress on my build, everything has slowed way down as the wife and I are trying to purchase a home. Shoot, I've even been considering selling my IH Scout as I can't even do anything with it and it just sits there. I just tell myself once we have a house bought things will change...we'll see  Hope you all have been well and bass fishing season is among us :D
  11. I've read this letter a couple of times and it is outstanding. I think everyone has had enough of being trampled on and their rights being trampled. Like Joshua Boston said in his letter to Frankenstein...we are not their peasants. I pulled my Marines together and asked them if they truly understood their oath, what it means and what it meant to them. I have a few "rednecks" in my group and they said, "they're not taking my f'n guns!"
  12. I sent an email to the San Diego County Sheriff to get see where he stands. I have yet to hear anything back and I'm not holding my breath either. After reading his bio I'm sure he still has friends in the FBI ::) However, the wife was offered a job in NW Arkansas and we're thinking about moving back there after I retire. <thumbsup>
  13. The Good Lord was smiling upon me. I no sooner walk through the door and my phone rings...it's the wife calling. Her: "what ya doing?" Me: "nothing, just walked through the door from work" Me: "why what's up?" Her: "how much do you love me?" Me: Hesitates for a moment, "I love ya lot, how much do you love me?" Her: "can you come rescue me and your daughter?" Me: "Why, what happened...where are you?" Her: "I'm at the exchange and I locked my keys in the car" Me: "LOL, I'll be there in a minute!" I get there, unlock her car and she's still in the exchange. She comes walking out as I'm walking in with her keys in my hand. Me: "Well that worked out" Her: "Yeah, that was good timing" Me: "No, now you can't be mad for me buying gun parts" Her: "What?" Me: "Do you want to walk home?" Her: "Okay" ;D I told her about GB and their asinine prices and she had that "really" look on her face. I'm that way with anything IRT prices. I've been buying Shimano Curado reels as I come across them too. In the fishing world their like gun parts right now. Every time a little box would show up the wife is like, "ugh, another reel" and I just smile and walk away! I always try and support the smaller shops. I learned that the hard way when Wal-Mart put my grandparents Hallmark store out business they had for 30 years. Once Wally World had the rights to sell Hallmark cards it was over from there. I'm an advocate of "supporting downtown". A local gun shop is still offering a 100 bucks off for Military when they buy a S&W MP 15, they had PMAGS 2 weeks ago at 17 bucks a piece, but were only selling to LEO. Wouldn't sell to us Military even though we use them in country. I was little PO'd about that; however, since they're not raping people I'll do business with them again.
  14. I'd been searching for a while trying to find a LPK for my receiver and finally found (bought) one without the trigger for 65 bucks today. I started to order online and then thought twice about it so I called the store and it was his last one. Sorry had to share, I've been giddier than a school girl since everyone is trying to rape everyone else on these and I was actually able to locate one for a fair price. Now I have to decide on a trigger... Wife doesn't know and I'll probably catch flack over it, but she'll have to get past it :D
  15. Of course they are man, if they did it before then it would hinder their agenda. These m'fers make me sick.
  16. I'm betting on later rather sooner, it would hinder their plan for the AWB and the impositions they're trying to place on us. I was thinking about this yesterday; we haven't seen any pictures of the weapons used, no references to makes or models, etc. The only thing we really know about Sandy Hook is what has been blasted out through the MSM, which I only trust about as far as I can spit.
  17. I seen that yesterday...big brother was using the AR platform as the base to push their agenda. The agenda that Fineswine said she'd started working on a year ago.
  18. I know certain brands are authorized to be talked about on the forum and I don't know what they; however, if I over step my bounds I assume my thread will be edited and that's okay. With that said, the most two common LPK's I come across for a DPMS 308 lower is the DPMS kit and CMMG. I seen a thread where it said to say away from CMMG and havne't heard a lot on the DPMS ones. Is there another one I should be looking or do they all seem to have quality parts in them? I've read that certain AR-15 equivalent LPK's will work in a 308 with the exception of a few parts; anyone have a list of those parts? Or should I seek out a 308 specific LPK? I'm going to buy a LPK, but won't be using all the parts out of it; I will be not be using the trigger group, grip, safety selector or mag release (mine has the lovely BB). I don't mind having spare parts lay around for a future build or just in case. Thanks all and I understand this is more than likely a rhetorical thread and been asked a 1k times. If you have links I'm willing to read, I did search and not a lot came up. Thanks <thumbsup>
  19. Hopefully that'll open their eyes a little more...dumb asses! Reading that makes me realize even though that one dude gave the military a 1.4% raise, we didn't in fact get a raise, but it was a way for them to justify some of the pork in their plans!
  20. -Fishing for large mouth bass (consumes a lot of my free time and money) -Riding my Harley -Working on my IH Scout -Snowboarding -Softball -Hunting deer, coyote (need to do it more) and turkey, would like to get into pheasant, duck and quail (bear, elk, lynx and big horn sheep are on my bucket list) -Learning to play guitar (had one for a year, just don't put a lot of time into it, even though I really want to learn...seems contradictory) -weightlifting, running/working out (don't do it enough, but need to, I use to compete in power lifting) These are all things I thoroughly enjoy and do when I feel like it. As I get older I get lazier and my family comes before any of these. There are types of thing I want to learn how to do though- photography, welding, sheet metal working and more in-depth auto repair (ring and pinions, transmission and motor rebuilding) I like to work with my hands and take things apart ;D
  21. Man, I have a plethora of those things. 100 bucks a pop, huh? I've got at least 2k worth of mags in the garage! Kidding!!!!! That is some BS right there....
  22. I've ordered from them before and will continue to order from them as well...discount or not. I never ask if a place has a military discount. If they ask or offer I'll take them up on it.
  23. Nothing is more disgusting than these assholes using a tragedy like this to push their agenda...AT ALL LEVELS! Yet those of us that are part of the "gun culture" are the bad guys. Seems like flawed thinking to me. I'm going to have to persuade my wife to move out of CA just because I don't think I'll be able to take anymore of their gun laws. It'll be a hard sell since she started her "career" job. I hope the residents of IL go up in arms about this BS!
  24. That is awesome...maybe someone in the head shed will see this and pass it along!
