  1. Mine is in there too but this showed up today (no shipping notice, and 2 month late order confirmation) and now I don't know which to keep now. Paid MSRP though which I think is a bit too much. Untitled by Glamisduner, on Flickr
  2. I can build my own Ar platform rifles from parts, but I have never done any trigger work. I'd just hate to buy such an expensive trigger then need to send it off right away to be re-worked just so that it will work as expected.
  3. Droool. Unfortunately for me, I tried to order BCG from JP a couple months ago. It said it was in stock, but apparently it was not. I never backordered though, but I guess they assumed I did... So now it looks like I have 2 BCGs on the way, which one will be better? I'm thinking the JP one since I will have an adjustable gas block. Maybe I should just build a second rifle?
  4. So if I don't have a BAD A.S.S then the SR gold is a drop in? It sounds like it requires some grinding or what have you? I was thinking it sounded much harder to install and have a proper functioning safety, however I have a hard time understanding the safety problem it causes without seeing one. I'm confused to the point where I'm wondering if the SR Gold is actually safer than the GA if I have to modify it to make the safety work as expected (what if I screw up the modification and my safety fails?). Sounds like a huge hassle to me. I have a CMMG and RRA but its going to be some time before my BCG arrives. I was going to RMA the CMMG because the trigger pull of the second stage is harder than any of my parts kit mil spec triggers.
  5. Looks like the group buy is over? Is that a good sign they will be shipping soon?
  6. CMMG 2-stage and RRA 2-stage? I know they won't be as good as the others but it would help me decide if upgrades are worth it.
  7. Can Anyone who owns Both the Geissele High Speed Match Trigger and SR Gold compare them for me and to help me choose? This will mostly be a heavy bench gun. I have no way to compare these in person so I have come to conclusion it is impossible for me to decide. From reviews I have read the SR Gold probably better than the SSA and SSA-E, but the Geissele high speed match may be better than the SR Gold. This is purely from a benchrest perspective of course, and reading reviews on the Internets... Another thing I read int he brownells reviews for the SR Gold is that the safety may need to be modified a bit, or else it can be hard to put the safety on, not sure if I want to screw with that! THe Geissele SD-E looks interesting as well with. Thanks,
  8. Tempted to try an SR gold myself, but I think I'm going to go with a Geissel High Speed Trigger with spring kit so I can toy with all 3 versions (Match, DMR, Service). I hear the trigger pull is better than SR gold for a precision rifle, but I do like the SR Golds safety features. SR Gold is not in stock anywhere though. I have no experience with either just a CMMG 2 stage and RRA 2 stage, so I'm hoping the price difference will be worth it.
  9. I have one it's decent. I don't care for my 2 stage trigger, it seems really stuff, like 10lbs pull if I was to guess. The spring for the rear detent seemed short. On my lower there were 2 ways to install this, one passage from the rifle grip and the other from the rear of the lower just like on an AR 15. I had to use the passage way in the grip. I think the passage in the rear of my lower is threaded, but i didn't have a set screw and it seemed to be much to long, but I might be mistaken. Maybe someone else can chime in about this? The only other issue I had was the bolt catch allen-head set screw stripped out very easily when installing y bolt catch. I do not know that I would ever be able to remove it since it is so small (it would be hard to extract with a drill bit etc. I also had an issue with the push pins, but I think the tolerances on my billet lower were just too tight. I had to spend a couple hours working them in and out of the lower with a punch before I could push them in by hand. Still need a punch to remove them though... The kit was nice and organized though, no problems there.
  10. I'll give it a shot. Anyone know if this will work under the JP Handguard? http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Adjustable-Lo-Profile-Gas-Block-937-Rifle-Length-Straight-Gas-Tube/productinfo/TR-AGBL-R/ Will any of these straigth gas tube systems work or will I need a larger diameter handguard? I can't find any specs...
  11. Actually DPMS lowered their rail, but I do agree, they should meet some DPMS spec lower or taller, since they don't really offer complete rifles it would make no sense to have a rail that isn't flush with other existing parts, and I would consider it "out of spec" Of course this is all speculation because I do not have a way to do the measurement properly (from the centerline of the barrel)... I have seen several completed JD rifles in a 308 ar thread on Calguns and all their rails are flush. Maybe if the matched set uses a non standard lower then the rail could end up the proper height but that is rather strange to imagine as well. If the upper was taller on the bottom portion rather than the top where the rail is, then the rails could still line up, but then I think the lower would have to be shorter for the trigger to work correctly, That's why I think mine might not be correct.
  12. It's enough to make me dump the project... I dunno maybe their lower is a different spec for their matched set and everything will line up, I don't know why they would do that though... I guess I will find out if they ever get back to me. It might require me to drive down there to get an answer though, they are about an hour from my house and I had to make 2 trips just to pickup the lower because they don't answer phones or emails anymore. I have contact info for someone there, but they are usually slow to answer as well.
  13. I hear what your saying but I didn't pay $650 (on sale) for out of spec billet matched set and it is not acceptable. I will contact JD and see what they say.
  14. Thanks, I got my barrel today so I thought i would measure while I had it out. I found the sticky and also several other sites say the same thing. "To find out if you have a newer model or older run, the easiest way to measure is with a caliper from the bottom surface that mates to the lower to the top of the rail. The new versions measure 2.003 and the old versions are 2.063. " Mine is 2.083 so i guess this tells me nothing...
  15. I think the Atlas was lighter, and has more options and adjustment as well as a similar QD lever. The quality appeared better too, although the Haris isn't bad, just that the Atlas was better. Plus he had the monopod for the PRS stock, and there's nothing like having a matching set :)
  16. I have the haris on a larue QD mount. I loved it until I saw my friends Atlas. Now I want an Atlas lol.
  17. JP: Minimum recommended tube ID 1.750” (allows min .050” clearance on all sides) JP Block is .770" tall over bore. Then the PRI block is .780 tall over bore, and that should allow .040 clearance on the top but that exceeds the minimum specified by JP. I'm not sure how much this will matter? I'm also not sure which is a better block. I know some say to get steel over aluminum, and other say to get a clamp on over a set screw type. I would imagine the clamp on will be better despite the material if the barrel has no divots in it. I'm not sure the JP block even qualifies as a clamp style though, I think it also required the divots. I'm also confused why the PRI requires a straight gas tube and the JP makes no mention of this. They are both a similar height over bore!?
  18. lol @ call JD, they haven't been taking phone calls in months. not sure how to measure it otherwise since it wants to measure from the center of barrel... Oh well not like I can get this handguard or gas blocks right now anyways....
  19. Forgive my ignorance but does that mean pre or post 2009? http://www.apexhandguard.com/store.php?seller=ApexMachiningCompany&navt1=19974&grid=Y&per=12&num=24
  20. This one? http://www.precisionreflex.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=186815&CAT=4274 Will it fit under the Apex handguard? I'm guessing not since that would be nice :( I'm leaning towards the Apex handguard now, I don't like that it is "clamp on style" but it seems better than relying on a bunch of lock-tight. Not sure which Rail height I would need since I'm not attaching to a DPMS Receiver. It will be going on a JD Machine receiver if anyone knows how that compares. I didn't think picking a handguard and gas block would be so difficult. Definitely very limited compared to the stuff out there for AR-15's.
  21. How much do you want for it? And what don't you like about it?
  22. Anyone make a low profile .936 adjustable gas block in steel or SS? I can't seem to find anyone making them....
  23. The gas tube tool isn't to hold the outer nut in place, it is to line up the gas tube. I usually just use a drill bit that is the same diameter.
  24. So the only thing that prevents the outer piece from turning while you potentially torque the piss out of the barrel nut is the lock-tight? Seems like a screwy design to me. I'm quickly finding out that all other 15" free float tubes I find are only clamp on style, which does not seem like a great design to me at all for a tube that is 15" long, and/or I would still have the issue of being able to reach the adjustable gas block without removing the handguard. What do you guys think about the JD handguard in comparison? http://www.jdmachinetech.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Store_Code=JD&Screen=PROD&Category_Code=223RL&Product_Code=223CHG And the barrel nut: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=435301 I would probably have to drill a hole in the tube to access the adjustable gas block though. I can't find a forward facing adjustment screw gas block in .936 :(
  25. So you used red lock-tight and could still remove it? You didn't have any problems with the outer piece slipping? Is there by chance a similar tube that has a better barrel nut assembly? It seems kinda complicated, or harder to adjust, compared to their new tubes.
