  1. I opted for the Rainier Arms UM in 20"... just getting it running smooth, but so far I'm impressed. Not the Carbon Fiber, but I went with he RA so I could spend some more on a quality scope and a few other things. But I'm not doing competition or anything like that either.... just some longer range plinking fun. And zombies.
  2. I liked the fact that they use flat rate USPS... FedEx and UPS rape us on shipping to Alaska, but Priority flat rate works the exact same... flat fee regardless it's coming up here. It's getting so that if someone does not offer it, I order elsewhere.
  3. went ahead and ordered some last night, and got a tarcking number this morning. <thumbsup>
  4. Anyone deal with Bayou Tactical? They have a number of Pmags in stock, including 308. MSRP ($19.99) and shipping is very fair - flat rate USPS which is the best way to me in Alaska. think I may grab a few... they had 147 in stock just now http://www.bayoutactical.com/products-page/magazines/pmag-20lr-7-62x51-magazine-sr25m110/
  5. nope... looks clean as a whistle.
  6. a little goofy fun... ran my GoPro at 60 frames/sec then slowed down in Vegas Pro... only a few seconds long but neat. Gotta find a way to slow it even more... http://www.swissybaroo.com/SloMo_308.mp4
  7. YES YES F-ING YES!!!! Finally got a day to screw around with the .308. Was having FTE issues, started looking around and reading, and thinking. It happened bone stock, AND after I swapped nearly everything. So... what did I not swap? BCG. Ejector could be pushed down below the bolt face, so spring was correct length. Took my ejector, removed the SpringCo.Com double AR10 upgrade springs and put stock spring back on with insert. At the range, the rifle became a single shot. Round would not even be pulled out of the chamber. I had brought all my armorer stuff with me, and a few spare parts to try. Nice thing is, the range was closed to all but advanced members (of which I am). So I was able to spread out my mat, pull the rifle apart, and put in a different extractor with the same stock spring/insert. Re-assemble... single shot. Took everything apart, put double spring setup back in on new extractor, better than single shot but still a ton of FTE issues. I added a donut onto the springs, and it got better. I added a second donut, and bingo. 3 mags of no FTE! WOOHOOOOOO! Sooooooooooo happy I don't have to screw with other ideas, like putting the carbine buffer/slash spring on, try adj gas block, and so on. Nice thing was the brass ejected strong and clean every time. I'll take more ammo with me to try next time, but I'm pretty confident I found the issue. That's 100yrds, 5 shots TIGHTLY grouped just beow the X, the the rest of one mag and all of another firing as fast as I felt confident of being back on target. Not super rapid fire, but fast enough. Plus a few Zombie head shots for good measure... Next is the 300yrd range.
  8. Don't have one, but will shortly after seeing this thread <thumbsup>
  9. Harris Tactical NiB BCG Seekins Microdot mount Primary Arms weapon light FDE for my Tavor
  10. Thanks for the info... just had a nice exchange of emails with HT so what the hell... it's only money, right? ::) Placed an order. I'm not worried about locking into battery issue... I've always used the bolt release, and was told to in an Armorers course and on a 3 day, 1000rnd course. Hopefully the purchase doesn't come back to bite me in the arse! But, seems good to go after talking with them. But do continue the range reports!
  11. Range report? Thinking of getting one myself - how's the quality? Seems like there are no tooling marks in the photos... staking seems good, but cannot see if it actually contacts the screw heads. Forgive me for asking, but anyone know anything or have dealings with Harris Tactical? The specs on the BCG look impeccable, are they a name to be trusted? I'm thinking of getting a new .308 BCG...
  12. Liked it a lot had a near religious experience, altho I have to admit I had very little trigger time before I put it on. The one on my AR made a decent improvement in shooting without using any kind of rest.
  13. So... after a super crapload of busy days, I FINALLY got to the range to play today. And, of course, mr .308 went with me! Shot great, but having some issues. Ejections are 'lazy' and get some FTE's and an occasional double feed. Was hoping the HeavyBuffer.com setup would keep this from happening, and I did an extractor spring upgrade as well. But, I didn't spend a ton of time diagnosing it (other than it seems to not happen with Lake City 7.62 but did with MagTech .308) as I had other new toys to play with. I'll go back with JUST the .308 and some other ammo to try, and see what the issue is. Pretty happy with the way it shot otherwise.
  14. I beg to differ - I have both and there is a pretty significant difference in the grip angle of them. My picture sucked so here's stickmans (shamelessly grabbed of the tubes): I find the more vertical aspect of it much better feeling in my hand, especially after any extended amount of time shooting, like the 2 day carbine class I did over 1k rounds in. I'm going to use the Umbrella grip on all my builds now, other than my .308 with the palm shelf grip...
  15. I live in Alaska... of COURSE I fish! Helps to have my own ocean going boat and access to river boats My Photos
  16. Call me crazy, but I like the Umbrella Corp grip I put on my 5.56 - the angle seems so much more ergonomic and comfortable to me. unfortunately I love the palm shelpf Ergo I have on my .308 build so I won't change it out. But any other builds will be done using the Umbrella one. Drawbacks are no texture (stippling) and no storage compartment.
  17. well, after all the hustle and bustle of putting that thing together, I just today was able to get the time to headspace it... good to go <thumbsup> Also got the precision washers in the same matte finish as the barrel (looks much better IMO) and the limbsaver pad. That's an issue tho... the limbsaver does not match up in size to the adapter... more research needed. But it will work, it's bolted on, and feels MUCH better. Maybe someday I can go test fire it...
  18. IWI Tavor, 16" FDE model. Picking i tup today
  19. Stuff is trickling in... but ZIPPING out of stock. I have a bunch of 'email me when in stock' notifications and I am getting more and more, but by the time I get them, and go to the site, they are sold out already. Thankfully nothing I *have* to have, but I sure would like some mags for the M&P15-22 I just picked up (at normal pricing BTW)
  20. I saw the HT site... if they are the same, then worth a try. I did message the GunBroker seller to see what they say... When you get it, I'd be curious to hear your impressions and what is stamped on it.... MPI, MP, anything, nothing...
  21. LOL figures... I look on Midway, Brownells and others, but not direct at the source! Oh well.. truth be told, I'd much rather have the limbsaver anyways now that I've found out how to put one on and look good too.
  22. Has anyone gotten any info on the material and testing done on these? Are the bolts Carpenter158 steel? Are they individually or batch tested? MPI? HPT? preferrably both? I could not get any info on them and would like to kow before I buy. If anyone has one, what is stamped on them, if anything? That's the problem with going thru an armorer's course... you learn too much! LOL ETA: oh yeah... to anyone that has, is or will serve - YOU ROCK.
  23. One other thing I forgot to list... I was disappointed in that the PRS stock did not accept the Magpul recoil pads... got a .70" just for it, but no go. So in looking around, I found a better solution - a Tactilite MP adapter for the PRS with a Limbsaver pad to fit it. Found out about it on SnipersHide, and have the stuff on order thru Brownells. LOVE LOVE LOVE the limbsaver on my Saiga12, so it should be awesome on this as well.
