  1. 20" Rainier Arms Ultramatch barrel, and the obj is 50mm on the lens, but it's still a shitty $99 bushnell! :)) I'll be upgrading to quality as soon as I can afford it after the CC is paid off from this build! I did start a thread in the DMPS area on it...
  2. I'd be interested in range reports and so on as well... going thru an Armorer's course really opened my eyes to the amount of variation in the marketplace. It's pretty amazing what is out there and the differences there are.
  3. Thanks all... hopefully Tuesday we'll be out seeing how far away I can pop a mosquito in the ass with this thing! ^-^ Is supposed to be sunny, so would bea good time for pics. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out... still trying to decide on a few things, like a NiB or chrome BCG, the MATEN set, and the scope. Wondering if a Vortex PST 6x24 would suffice, or if I really need to go with the SWFA... good glass is worth more than its' weight in gold, so I am leaning heavily towards the SWFA (on the recommendation of a friends son, who is a current USMC Armorer). And thanks jrt, I am on the list @ JoeBobs.... and Rainier... and... but I'm in no rush since I have the Bushmaster lower/upper so I'm kinda waiting not only for stock, but see if the prices will ever return to pre-SandyHook prices. I don't have a smartphone, so I get the 'in stock' emails later in the day, and everything is always gone by then. Just picked up an M&P15-22 and you'd think the mags for that thing are made of gold! can't find one anywhere that won't cause me assburn. one thing I need to do is slap this sucker on a scale... I certainly did not go light weight!
  4. Posted my build in the LR308 pic forum, but here it is: I'm hoping to hit the range Tuesday to try out the Atlas bipod and other changes I've made.
  5. Well, I kinda cheated. I've had a Bushmaster LR308 ORC for awhile, just never did anything with it (include shoot it...). So, I decided to make a project out of it and do some upgrades after completing an AR Armorer's course. Added- Rainier Arms 20" UltraMatch barrel w/ lopro block BattleComp BABC APEX 15" free floating rail Ergo Palmshelf grip PRS stock Slash Buffer/spring Timney trigger Atlas Bipod B.A.D. Ambi safety selector Rainier Arms Raptor charging handle dust cover with 7.62 laser etched on the outside, 'Reach Out' 'Touch Someone' etched inside super crappy $99 Bushnell scope! LOL The last thing to get is a SWFA SS 5-20x50 FFP scope... I would have it now, but I have some serious vet emergency bills to pay off first, and family (furry or not) come first. I also have a stainless washer set coming to get rid of the black crushwasher Battlecomp included with their stainless BABC. And eventually I'll possibly move everything over to a billet upper/lower, once they are able to be found again reasonably priced My HOPE is to hit the range Tuesday for breaking in the barrel properly... :sniper:
  6. LMAO! I just did this exact thing (well,th pissing the wife off part) and got a Colt Railgun in stainless... love the beadblasting 2tone of it. Plus it shoots like a beast! WAY more accurate than I am...
  7. Hey! Just remembered I posted in here >:D I'll have to give you a shout this summer... I'm down in Homer all summer long! I have family about 6.5miles out East End road (Fernwood) and I own 5 acres on Diamond Ridge that I have yet to build on. I keep my boat there as well... just got back from the Winter King Derby! Lost the winner fish, but got a 14.4# one for the grill...
  8. Well, first off... this is the review I watched - Now, that siad... yes, there is a little 'wobble', but I think that it is designed that way. In the video, there is mention that a front/back movement is needed, and I agree. That is what mine has... if there is any side/side movement, it is because the knob is not tight enough. I actually loosened mine so there would be a little - helps with leveling out the rifle. Again tho, I have not had mine at the range yet. I hope to on Tuesday, and I'll take my MidwayUSA shooting pad so I can lay prone and really give it a workout. I'll go pull it out of the safe, and play with it some more. Might even take a pic or two and post a write up on it since I just completed it. I'll post again with more info and possibly pics.
  9. I just put on an Atlas on my LR308 this morning... LOVE that thing. Not gotten it to the range obviously, but testing it out at the house makes me think it will kick ass. I was looking at the G&G as well, but the review I watched on YouTube from Accuracy INternational sealed the deal for me. It is VERY adjustable, which will be handy.
  10. going on 41 years up here! Not plans to leave any time soon, either. Too much fun crap to do up here... got my own ocean going boat and halibut/salmon fish out of Homer all summer long, love to hunt ptarmigan in the fall, and now that I'm working up my .308, who knows what other hunting I can get in on. If they'd ever give me a caribou tag....! And getting out in the woods hiking with my dogs is a 24/7/365 event for me. SO nice to drive a few miles and be in the middle of nowhere and get lost in the woods for awhile to get away from everything/one. Oh well... I can usually be found at the birchwood shooting range on Mondays or Tuesdays since I have the membership that gets me in on those closed to the public days. Stop by and say hi! I'm usually plinking steel targets with the 5.56, .308 or a recent acquisition, a Saiga12.
  11. Well, howdy. Just signed up as I'm looking for a good place to get .308 specific info... AR15.com and M4Carbine only have a small section that's piled together. So... here I am! <thumbsup> Got a few 'little' calibers, but I've also had a Bushmaster LR308 in the safe for awhile. Well, it's time to play! So I'm gathering items to work it up into a little better ... um, well, killing machine? Should be more than enough for Caribou up here, and I know guys that take moose with smaller so you never know. And, them pesky zombies are around every corner! (is that fad EVER going to die?) So far, I have a Rainier Arms UltraMatch 20" barrel coming, APEX 15" handguard, Battlecomp BABC (in stainless!), Timney AR10 trigger, and I cannot decide between the UBR and PRS stocks. Since I have the HeavyBuffer.Com spring and buffer already, I'm kinda leaning to the UBR. But, you never know. Last I want to add a GG&G HD Bipod. I have a super crappy Simmons 4x20 scope on it now that I got free, but I am looking at options. Since I'm breaking the bank on the barrel and other assorted goodies, I may see how I like the Nikon M308BDC. Otherwise I know I'll want a NightForce or something exotic like that! Wish my pocketbook matched my tastes. Thankfully I had the foresight to grab a couple of batches of Pmags before the nutties hit. I resisted the urge to dump some at $100 a pop! Like I said, the nutties hit. If nothing else, it's gonna look good, hopefully shoot better and just be plain fun to do. Sadly the range I use has a max distance of 300yrds. I'll have to have a buddy fly us out to a remote area and GPS off a 600-800 yard area and see how much fun we can have. I'm looking forward to posting some questions and getting ideas - it'll be a work in progress and I am ALWAYS looking to learn from those that know. (and then it's on to a hoped for .300blackout AR!)
