  1. I'm the polar opposite. I clean mine when I'm bored. Frog Lubed so much they almost slip out of your hands. :)
  2. Call POF. My experiences with them have been very positive.
  3. Both of these rifles are fairly new (<1 year). I've shot them both with the Hawke optics at 300 yards with no issues, and have plans to take them much further. I'm using the Sidwinder series and have the 8-32x56 on the 300 Weathergy and the 6-24x56 on the POF 308. Pros/cons to both reticle type, I have one of each.
  4. I have 2 scopes from Hawke Optics and like them. http://www.opticsplanet.com/hawke-sport-optics-riflescopes.html http://www.hawkeoptics.com/
  5. Sure. This one is bigger (gun and scope):
  6. I'm out. Family plans this weekend. I wish I could have made it, only had the new hot rod out once!
  7. Remove the spring and slide the buffer and BCG into the tube and make sure it clears the bolt catch. If it does, add the spring and repeat. I had one that was REAL tight and made it very picky on ammo:
  8. My experience with Ruger was similar. I wish other industries had the same level of customer support. Could you imagine buying a used car, sending it back to the manufacturer and they refurbish it for free? That's pretty much what they did with one of my SR9Cs. Love Ruger!!!!!!
  9. Call Ruger. Their customer service is second to none (that's why you buy a Ruger). They'll fix it!
  10. Back from the range this morning! Rifle: 16.5 inch P308. Gen 4 upper, Gen 3 lower The rifle was able to hold sub MOA at 100 yards. The flier shot is common from what I’ve read on the web (1st round in a new magazine/cold barrel?). POF Gen 4 is AWESOME!!!! I went through 6 different types of ammunition in 5 different magazines with ZERO malfunctions. E2: https://www.pof-usa.com/esquared.html for more details. Leaves the top tapered part of the brass dirty and you can see the machine marks in the spent casings. Apparently it works, because my gun runs like a top! Gas Piston: I mentioned earlier that this is my first. Talk about easy to clean! I avoided Frog Lube on my impingement guns as I thought that I’d never be able to keep them clean without some sort of solvent or gun blast type of product. This thing was CLEAN after ~150 rounds. I wiped everything down, IPA’ed it, and Frog Lubbed it up for the next time! Heat Sink: POF installed a large heat sing in front of the barrel nut. Comparing it to my other 308LR which has a bull barrel; this gun is much cooler. My other gun requires cool time before putting it into the bag. I was able to run through 10-15 rounds fairly quickly and the barrel was cool enough to touch. Trigger: I don’t know what it is, but it’s nice! Short throw, I guess about 4-5lbs. Scope: Hawke Sidewinder 30 SF 6-24x56 SR Pro Reticle. This is my second Hawkescope and I continue to like them. Heck of a deal for a sub $500 scope. Both of mine hold zero (300 Weatherby and this POF308), crystal clear glass, with some nice features for the money. Good buy! Locking Focus: My favorite feature of the scope and it’s a simple no brainer. Hawke uses a second locking nut on the focus lens to lock the damn thing in place after you get it where you want. Really nice especially if you add rubber flip up caps. LOVE THIS!!! I like the SR Pro Reticle better than the MOA. However, only the center section + illuminates on the SR in comparison to the entire reticle on the MOA. I’ve only used the illumination when bore sighting at night, but I’m under the impression that I might like the MOA illumination better if/when I ever need to use it. Push Lock windage/elevation knobs: Another nice and simple feature.
  11. This one is the SR Pro. My other is the 10xMil Dot.
  12. Yes. 6x24. I have the 8x36 on my 300 Weatherby.
  13. Off to the range tomorrow!
  14. I picked up a P308 POF from GotAmmo LLC on Friday. My first "piston" gun! They had pretty good deals on back packs and since the credit card was already hot... Range report after my optics arrive:

    POF opinions

I bought one over the weekend. GOTAMMO LLC in good year has the Gen 4 on the Gen 3 lower for $1900. Ordered an Optic on Saturday. I'll post an update after I get everything together and head out to the range. Initial impressions after tear down clean and lube is that it's a lot nicer than any other M4/AR platform in my safe. Can't wait to shoot it!
