    Tumbling

same practice here, but I also clean/uniform the primer pocket before I tumble. Then lube and size. Then tumble again to clean lube off. I've not had much problem recently with the media sticking in primer pockets. Could be that the last batch of media was a finer grain...
  2. would you be willing to sell it out-right? If so what's your price?
  3. have you seen any new in stock? Every time I've checked 223 and 308 is out of stock.
  4. ours seems to get some in every day or two. They won't sell it until 7 am- and limited you to 2 boxes (now up to 3). If they get any 22LR in it goes fast. The phone chain and boom. Haven't seen any for a couple months
  5. this is a fascinating idea and maybe it is doomed to a life of constant reworking, maybe not. They have come a long way with lubricants- for those of you still using CLP it burns off long before 1000 rounds so you have no lube. What if he used Slip2000 EWL and the whole thing stayed wet? Or used another form like Kroil- which seeps down into the tiniest places. Even if it does only last a few thousand rounds could it not be used to shoot the 600 and 1k stages in a match? **I don't know if they allow you to swap bolts...** Then again it could be a placebo effect. Get a good lube. Keep firing. stay safe
  6. mine doesn't like the win 7.62 nato stuff- shoots it minute of pie plate. Same stuff through a rem 700 was under 2 moa. Both shoot sub moa w/ 168 amax hand loads. It may be that your rifling is 1:10 and it doesn't like the 145-150 gr bullets most likely used in the 2nd and 3rd types of ammo. RRA also sent a card w/ my rifle that specifically mentions the Magtech as no bueno in the rifle.
  7. have an lar-8 and found this site while looking for loads developed with the predator model I have. I've since found quite a bit of helpful knowledge and am glad to be a member of this community.
  8. I've loaded up several bullets w/ H335 (=surplus 844)and it can make very accurate ammunition. Don't have any of the data with me atm, but according to my information the military used 24.7 gr of it w/ that bullet. I'll post a link to the page below. Sierra lists it with their 60 (23.5-25.6) and 63 gr bullet (22.8- 25.6)- so I'd say it checks out. Just don't start high and you'll be fine.click here for "Duplicating Nato charges" I've not loaded that particular bullet, but have loaded the 193 and 855. You may want to take into consideration that a lower burn temp powder, like W748, may not light those off. That could be good/bad.

    Crimping

a buddy loads for an m1 and he doesn't crimp b/c his loads are compressed enough that the bullet can't be set back by recoil- so if that's the case w/ what you've got I'm sure it's slightly easier on the brass to have none. I use a Lee fcd and put a light one on there- I subscribe to the idea that it might help to even out my velocity SD. Haven't got a chrono to test that theory though
  10. I got a little crow gun works "worlds finest trimmer". It's a good compromise I think. You have to put it in a drill, and chamfer/debur after but its so much faster than the lee case length gauge style I was using. It has a ball bearing so it doesn't rub like the possum hollow one. It datums off the case neck so its quick to trim, and just uses an end mill bit. I use a RCBS case prep center to cham/debur after so it goes pretty quick.
