  1. 7mm Express and 280 are the same cartridge. The 284 is a rebated rimmed cartridge with a steep shoulder angle and short neck. Some people have good success with the 6.5X284 wildcat version.

    WV buck

That's a Savage Model 14 EuroClassic in .223. I just got my first AR10 a couple of months ago. I've got a couple of ARs in .223, a Smith and a DPMS but the POF is my first AR10. I posted a couple pics elsewhere, I am gonna do a couple of coyote sets this week and hopefuly score.

Just thought I'd show my 2012 WV buck. On my 3rd series of buck tending a doe grunts he came trotting down the ridge looking to kick some butt. Guess I need to resize the pic.

    Crimping

I just purchased a POF and this info has me thinking. I've loaded my own ammo for bolt guns for over 40yrs. Also some Rem 742s. My out of box accuracy was not as good as I hoped. I've only got 200rnds through it and am going to start trying to brew up some better ammo. I got 260rnds of Winchester 147gr FMJ white box with it and am averaging a little less than 2" @ 100yds. I'm using a Leupold VX III 6.5-20X40 EFR mounted in Nikon P Series rings. My bullet is going to be the Sierra 168gr MK. I haven't made a powder choice yet but have a few jugs of W748. I found a deal on a few hundred Federal Gold Medal Match brass 1x fired in a Mod 70 Win. I've never tried a roll crimp on a non canellured bullet, don't know the effects of attempting it. I've adjusted neck tension before by modifying the expander ball but I'm not sure it would work on this platform. I have this stuff all prepped and ready to go, I just need to get some feedback on your experiences. I believe this rifle is capable of more than I'm getting right now. I've always been an RCBS man and have never tried the Lee taper crimp. I barely bump the crimp on ammo for my 5.56 but this is an entirely different beast.
  7. I dig the 22lr cartridge. My favorite at the moment is ths M&P 15-22. I was a little aprehensive at first but it does better than I imagined. I'd buy another one.
  8. Newbie here myself from next door. Probably going to move across the river and play Buckeye in a few months.

I worked for Joby Fields and the Stump brothers hauling out of Blackberry Creek over to the Sprouse Creek processing plant. I'd say we probably know a few of the same folks. I moved on and made a career of hauling some of the nastiest chemicals on the planet for over 30yrs.
  10. Saw today that he bought an AR and a 1911 style pistol March 5 @ a local gun shop. What a bunch of damned hypocrites. He has his own antigun lobbyists working DC. I hate it the lady was shot.

No, I'm from the northern panhandle. I did used to drive a coal truck and lived on Blackberry Creek across the Tug from Matewan. Lived up past the Auburn tipple by the old railroad underpass. Been a while since I been down that way.
  12. Being a newbie to this forum I was clicking around looking at different threads. This has to be the funniest thing I've read for quite a while. I can picture the whole incident. Darned neer spit my coffe on the laptop once. I had a doe that I thought had expired jump up and run over top of me when I attempted to roll her over on her back. You are correct sir......those hooves are dangerous weapons. Still chuckling, thanks, Hitman.
  13. I'm experimenting with my POF. 1-10" twist seems to do well with the Sierra 165gr Gameking. Next session I'm trying Hornadys 165gr. The Sierra has always performed well for me on whitetails although it is a little heavily constructed for the 125-150lb deer in my area.
  14. Congrats on the kill. That is one huge predator!
