  1. Pretty cool huh. Long story short: The Toyotas make a longer lasting product which does not need to be replaced as often; it sell s itself. General gubment Motors took a monster bailout, pissed A LOT of customers off, and just recently announced a $12 Billion campaign to build new factories in CHINA. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/04/20/us-autoshow-china-gm-idUSBREA3J08N20140420 Camry's and Accords built in the U.S., last longer, bet better fuel mileage, AND they are cheaper to maintain? Detroit will fill with NOS lots. Bad GM business plan: bank on Americans being idiots who will forget about TARP and how much it costs to gas up their vehicles.
  2. Nope, it's more likely related to coming EPA BS coming down the pipe, and production needs to get old parts inventory out. They'll perhaps a longer than normal 4th of July shutdown, but keep on building. Our GM lots looked MUCH worse out back only because we couldn't get them shipped fast enough by semi and trains! New UAW contracts allows locals to slow down line speeds, laying off the $15 an hour folks w/o benefits in the right to work states that GM and Dodge moved to. The Union hate continues as result of pure bigotry and ignorance, and of course greed. Of course we now have a counter-culture which forgets Henry Ford's basic principle for his outstanding $5 a day wage back in the 1920s, was it? "If my factory workers cannot afford the vehicles they are building, Ford's in trouble..." Something along those lines...UAW today hires them in at $11, capped at $15 or so, with an annual healthcare deductible of $4000, and no pension benefits. Whoever's bitching about today's auto unions ain't got a clue.
  3. Man, you said a mouthful there. My body armor doesn't weigh 18 tons, and doesn't announce itself from 5 blocks away. Play cool. This ain't time for plowin skulls.
  4. It'll be cash for my man then. $290 for a case of 62 gr green tip, as many as you can haul, or flat rate of $15 S&H. He's got truckloads, he said, literally. Thought it was pretty weird to hear one of my favorite re-loading corps had been choked off from their brass source at DOD, who began shredding all the DOD brass rather than selling it. Silver? Gold? Nope, it'll be he who holds the most ammo for their army, can take whatever they need. poop's gone beyond zombie time.
  5. Nope, it's not a dead horse. The teams I've worked on here in U.S. have NEVER utilized a BearCat or other MRAP-like units as they do (2) things: 1.) The presence of those things on American streets ANNOUNCES that we're here! You lose every ounce of surprise needed to operate at a much safer level. 2.) They're a bullet magnet, and worse yet, when you set one on fire with say a molotov cocktail it's literally a coffin. As your Vet friend also noted they are easily defeated in so many ways, that have been well-known via many sources, that it just brings us back full-circle to what these MRAPs were originally built for : transport through an I.E.D. heavy territory. Thank God we had the resources and tech to build them and help in the sandbox, but yes, I'd love to have one for fishing as I don't think we'd ever get stuck at another boat ramp again. Might cave in the ramp for not holding 16 tons of steel, but I'm sure she'd dig out.... <dontknow>
  6. "What do you think about the recoil of the 10mm? Supposedly it's brutal and nasty." Not with the Gen 3 S&W 10mms: 1006, 1026, 1076. They are a heavier pistol with appropriate (RSAs) recoil spring assemblies from the factory. And that's the trade off against Glocks, which are quite a bit lighter, but it's a tough comparo. as result of ammo capacity differences and Glocks are double-stack, blahblahblah... Go to Wolff Springs online and you can find very affordable (RSA) 3 packs: 3 different spring rates to try in your pistol of choice. Most factory 10mm ammo today is not a whole lot more "kick" than your average .40. At 110 pounds you simply need to practice, and work on your stance and grip with a decent Instructor. If you wanted to get some hot 10mm there's anyone from Underwood to Buffalo Bore making really good stuff. However, mind you, all we have around here are black bear and big cats. As Robo mentioned above, if it's Grizz country, IIRC the 460 Rowland revolvers can run how many different calibers? 3? 460/454/45LC? You should obviously just buy 3 pistols and start your research... <dontknow>
  7. Nothing like the smell of fresh urine in the morning. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2014-03-28/news/chi-bp-oil-spill-lake-michigan-20140327_1_london-based-oil-company-oil-spill-whiting They really don't know how much went out into the lake: made estimates based on what they vacuumed and what they described as oily cotton-like balls on the beach. Somehow, BP has gotten local authorities to stop the compensation payouts for the Deepwater Horizon explosion, as BP is now the "victim". <laughs> http://www.cbsnews.com/news/bp-cries-foul-in-massive-oil-spill-settlement/
  8. I've got a couple of the S&W 1076s and they are tanks, incredible shooters, but a lower round count than the Gs. A great option that I went with is the Storm Lake conversion barrels for the G21(.45ACP), to 10mm. 2 pistols in one. As mentioned above the .357 SIG is another good bear round; I run a StormLake conversion barrel in my G24(.40), with TTI extender base pads. Carries very well in a Bianchi X15 medium. With the TTIs the round count is 18 IIRC.
  9. Ironic eh? HSBC eventually found to have laundered around $850 Billion for the narco-terrorists. AG said they were too big to jail, as their banking infrastructure would cause too much economic damage. http://www.infowars.com/banksters-laundered-money-for-drug-cartels-and-al-qaeda/ Go BIG or stay home?
  10. This explains why my 556 supplier suddenly became flush with REALLY cheap cases. Wouldn't it be cool if you could think about your ammo inventory as expendable, and the same way you did your cruise missile inventory? Holy $hit... Yeah, I'll act surprised...
  11. 494,000 hits on YouTube for "BP oil spill", so there must be a creditable interest in the topic... https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=bp+oil+spill Interestingly enough someone above mentioned we ALL need to use gas/oil in our daily lives, and I say no: we all have a CHOICE to moderate and change our daily use of petroleum products as an option. We can make a change or not. However, we cannot change the fact that clean water is mandatory for living ; if not for the thousands of eco-systems we depend on for foods, but for the water itself to drink. Now, this has brought to mind a much more important topic to me: 2A rights and those political discussions about it. For some reason we cannot get through what is PERceived Interwebs tone or attitude on clean water issues, and people ASSUMEing automatically that my political affiliation MUST be a left wing nut, and the ONLY course of action is to gaslight and organize an electronic dog pile. This is an unfortunate example of why we are continuing to lose 2A rights at a faster rate than before, while still pumping more money into Orgs like the N.R.A. with almost increasingly negative results. Think about it; We are paying more money to our lobbyists with NRA and GOA, etc., while LOSING more of our 2A rights. Why is that? We've become more divided and that needs to change, or start buying up the large PVC piping for burying guns & ammo in the backyard. (I'm not throwing rocks at the likes of NRA/GOA-I'm saying it's time to do more than writing those membership checks once or twice a year, and FEELing like we've made a difference.) As of right now, our old ways of doing things aint workin...
  12. <laughs> water, mineral, mining rights....and written into most mining rights are the provisos for fracking. IIRC the Red River is right over the southern region of the Ogalala aquifer?
  13. Texas Attorney General sees it as 90,000 acres, along the 116 miles of the Red River. He's going the long route.
  14. Respect that. One item though: BP evidently still quantifies oil volume per barrel, as 55 gallons. I took somebody's word for it as only being 42 gallons now, but BP and WI DNR measure differently. It was a 55,000 gallon spill here in WI, 2012. http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/Spills/Jackson.html
  15. Exactly, put em in the MRAPs and have at er...
  16. Know everything? Argued what point? 1.) I admitted I was wrong in using the old metric of oil being measured as 55 gallon "barrels". How is that being disrespectful-I argued nothing and admitted I was wrong. 2.) In that OTHER thread, if you go to the Wiki page definition of barrel, there it is- a picture of a 55 gallon "Shell oil" drum. I figured that was the unit of measurement still used today is, as that is HOW it's STILL delivered to our farm from the CO-OP. Guess what? I'll have the CO-OP call you, and get your permission to deliver oil in the wrong drums. Lack of knowledge and research? Hmmm. This is turning into the definition of insanity with you. However, it IS pretty dang cool that all the advertisers and sponsors here have been spoken for by you, as an example of how to NOT do business. I see that you are the one now trolling for arguments sake. Agree to disagree : if you want to argue, disagree, call names, use more profanity, make false accusations, call me a liar, just use the PMs. Agree? Thanks for that insight to your world.
  17. +20 on the Magpul There's a decent supply of surplus 7.62 out there running about .70 cents per round before shipping. Which rifling does your LR have? I don't think the LR is real picky about ammo, accuracy-wise. Someone who owns one might know better. As a rule with my .308s I try to keep the ammo above 150gr rounds. Generally in the 168gr-175 region, but these are not DPMSs.
  18. What? If you need 238 rounds of 12 ga. for practice and making qual. there's a problem. Training properly? LOL! Pistols and rifles are a perishable skill-scatter guns have always been qualed with, using BuckShot in my agencies up here-if you NEED 238 rounds to do so around here, you'd be on the range after we all left and then shooting with the next group who need to re-qual! That's not my opinion, that IS a FACT!
  19. Dude, I have less than 300 posts and you are approaching 9000 posts. There's a simple math problem there, that peers into your personal problem. I have no agenda to push, and the most "controversial" threads to you, I did NOT start. So please tell us what YOU believe is my agenda. I have not been disrespectful of others or their opinions ; as I asked earlier, please show me where I have been a disrespectful (trolling) member. I believe that a couple of your comments made at me have been more disrespectful and trolling. We disagree, we present links and ideas to each other : learn something or agree to disagree. It's been really adult-like until you started pushing for your agenda-whatever that is. Part of MY agenda has been to share information-sales happening on AR-10s, saving members here a lot of money if they choose to buy. I have answered some basic pistol questions as I am a factory certified L.E. armorer for SIG and Glock -being helpful I thought. Guess not. " Right now, people do not like you...." What kind of 3rd grade bullying $hit is that? Really, it sounds like something coming out of a 10 year-olds mouth. That's pretty funny. Am I remembering correctly-do you REALLY work in LE at some capacity, or am I wrong?
  20. Here is exactly what I wrote about the water, giving 100% credit to who said it-not me. On page one. It's no "leftist" twist of an argument as someone above mentioned. No I do not have "a .308 rifle", I have (3) of them right now, and as I mentioned earlier (1) of them is an ArmaLite AR-10. A 20" T model. I'm pretty sure I posted a pic of it here somewhere, but I did not realize this was a requirement, except for harassing people whose opinions you disagree with? "Kiss my ass." & "You just don't know when to quit do ya?" This is the reason A LOT of us in L.E. now have to wear cameras as part of our uniforms now. Those are what we call "fire starters" and/or a "parting shot" : Supervisors hear THOSE words from an Officer on the street and know they have a liability problem in their unit. Paperwork to come soon. Have a nice day, and Thank You for sharing your opinions about British Petroleum's corporate responsibility to fresh water.
  21. OK, one more time: it was a point of view of a Republican Governor on water as a natural resource, NOT mine. If you believe that a Republican Governor was using "leftist tactics", in his discussing the value of fresh water vs. oil? I'd say I'm not the one manipulating, twisting, or misdirecting. I have not been disrespectful (trolling) at anytime, and have actually said "Thank You" in closing some posts-if that's trolling...? I'm not the one making parting shot posts. Let's move forward: If you do not like my opinion in a thread, don't read it. However, just because you do not like my opinion, do NOT take it as being disrespectful or trolling.
  22. I have disrespected noone. Show me where I have and I may apologize.
  23. Stir up poop? It's a thread started by another member here, about land being seized by a government agency. LOL. Conspiracy is 2 or more people conspiring and planning against. These land seizures are actually happening right now. Yeah, I've posted a pic of my ArmaLite and some pistols, IIRC. What Forum/Site policy have I violated?
  24. Oh I know, going against the grain where everybody is just begging for crude oil in their watersheds, what was I thinking about.
