Anyone want a 260 Remington and/or 338 Fed LAR 8 Upper?
Bones replied to 600hpSBC's topic in Rock River Arms LAR-8
Hi everybody will that 338 work on a DPMS G2? -
Hi nova Mark I just got a DPMS G2 sass two months ago I've put about 101 rounds through it all store-bought three different kinds of shells and I am getting primers that are cratered it looks like to me the firing pin hole is excessive the primer material is flowing back into the firing pin hole upon ignition. Other than that I love the gun it shoots real nice accurate three shot groups most of the time I can cover them with a quarter at 100 yards. not one problem yet no feeding or ejection problems all the shells going to one spot. And I cleaned after every shot for 25 shots and then cleaned after 10 shots for 75 shots. I will clean after 10 shots for 200 rounds. Then the barrel is done. I'm loving it except for the primers.

It's cratering do to excessive firing pin channel diameter I believe .

I'm a member of 7.62 AR.com and I got the information from that and I joined your 308 AR.com there's a lot of good information here it sure has helped me. You just can't get this kind of knowledge from the Internet. Very helpful, friendly and funny at times. Thank you. It's a great site.

I would like to know if anybody else having problems with the primers cratering with the G2 dual ejectors on the bolt face.

He looks like he could take your horse right out from under you! Good job . Hope he was the ring leader.

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?

The A.R. 15's just didn't seem appealing to me. I have a 22 250 Remington 688 that's my Varmet rifle. Very accurate never owned a AR never had a semi automatic rifle except for a model 60 Marlin 22 all my rifles are bolt guns. I'm just having a blast shooting the DPMS G2 SASS 7.62-308. -
sorry it's upside down All shot at 100 yrd. Paper plate with one hole to Dirty the BL. Three shot groups. Paper plate with 12 shots in 12 seconds Rapid fire.

This is the DPMS G2 SASS That craters primers.

The top ones are handloads from a Vietnam vet they are a little hot the middle ones are 168 grain boattail hollow points made in Missoula Montana the bottom ones PPU their regular store-bought shells I don't know why I think there's something wrong with the bolt face where the firing pin comes through the bolt. The hole in the bolt for firing pin seems to be excessive

These are three different shells all store-bought I put 26 shells through the gun tonight without a hiccup It seems to be running great. I will post some targets

I just talk to tech-support at DPMS and he said there is nothing wrong with my gun. He said it supposed to do that I just don't think that's right I really want you to see a picture of this I have it in my phone and I can't seem to send it to you can I send it to you through Facebook
-
The rounds are off-the-shelf HSM168 GR HP BT they are all store-bought i can't seem to send a picture I tried. I'm doing this off my cell phone I don't have a computer and shot three rounds from a Vietnam vet that he hand loaded they cratered also. Firing pin looks just great I rolled it on a glass counter it's not bent

I will try to make this short I have a DPMS G2 SASS i've shot three different rounds through it and all the rounds are cratering on the primers. It appears to me the whole where the firing pin comes through on the bolt is excessive and it's letting the metal of the firing pin come back and creating a crater. Any suggestions
