  1. That's perfect for our M118 LR chamber option. It's designed to best accommodate the 168's and 175's. We generally run that chamber on our Hybrid contour and ADM designed barrel options. Feel free to shoot us an email at contact@criterionbarrels.com if you would like a copy of the reamer print. http://criterionbarrels.com/products/adm-nitrided-308-ar-barrels http://criterionbarrels.com/barrels/.308_AR/ar-10-hybrid
  2. Something like our 16" rifle length Hybrid contour model (1016S-HYR)? http://criterionbarrels.com/products/ar-10-hybrid We also manufacture two 16" rifle length models for American Defense MFG (salt bath nitrided). https://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/view/product/1232/
  3. SteveinUT, just a heads up for future build projects: Criterion offers a military/law enforcement discount on factory direct sales as well!
  4. Generally our chrome lined barrels shoot sub-MOA with factory match ammunition, and are capable of half-MOA performance with handloads tailored to the barrel. Component selection normally comes in to play with those performance standards, as does the shooter, but if you find yourself shooting groups greater than 1 MOA with a variety of loads, feel free to give us a call and we'll help troubleshoot, repair, or replace the barrel if necessary. .308 AR builds can occasionally be tricky, but we're always happy to help get them dialed in! Also worth noting, the OD on our .308 AR barrel extensions measure out at about 1.185", so it may be worth contacting the receiver manufacturer to verify the ID of your receiver to verify a good fit. Tolerances vary between different receiver manufacturers, but we have had positive feedback regarding receiver fitment on a variety of different receiver models. If you have any questions about our barrels, feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email at contact@criterionbarrels.com. I would be more than happy to help answer them! -Josh
  5. The Hybrid contour design was introduced as a good general purpose option. Unless you're planning on running a half dozen magazine dumps and then need to shoot .5 MOA groups at extended ranges, it should have enough material thickness to keep your groups pretty tight. I've been running a few different Hybrid contour barrels on my personal builds, and have noticed no significant change in group size after a couple magazines emptied with a sustained rate of fire. Feel free to shoot me an email at contact@criterionbarrels.com if you have any other questions. I'd be more than happy to help answer them! -Josh
  6. American Defense MFG recently added a selection of Criterion-manufactured nitrided .308 AR barrels to their product list. Included in the updated models are a mid-length 14.5" model, a 16" rifle length model (with a Hybrid contour), and a rifle length 16" model with a Heavy contour. Introductory pricing for these barrels is $305.95. Other models are also available in .223 Wylde and .300 Blackout. .308 AR Barrels https://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/view/product/1232/ .223 Wylde Models https://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/view/product/1225/ .300 Blackout Models https://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/view/product/1229/
  7. If enhanced corrosion resistance is a factor, then you might want to look into a chrome lined (to protect the bore) or nitrided (to protect the interior/exterior of the barrel) option. For packing in the field I'd recommend a mid-weight model like our Hybrid contour. That should keep you sub-MOA all day, and won't drag you down after the first couple miles of slogging through the brush!
  8. There's nothing to lose if you go the Criterion route. If you wind up running into any function issues, we'd be more than happy help troubleshoot and repair (or replace) the barrel if necessary.
  9. You do not need to be a dealer to purchase directly from Criterion. Just give us a call at (262) 628-8749 and we'll help get a barrel allocated to your order!
  10. The weight on the pictured prototype barrel is 2.40 lbs with a .750 gas block. We ran about a dozen different loads through it to test various gas port diameters, and it looks like we found the sweet spot. I don't believe we have any nitrided barrels in production (in that configuration), but there is always the possibility that we could add them at a later date.
  11. Those 16" rifle length .308 AR barrels are just about ready!
  12. 20" models are now available from Midwest Industries with a Magpul PRS stock. That would make for a phenomenal DMR build project!
  13. The new models are all Hybrid (mid-weight) contours with a .750 gas block. For weight we're looking at: 2.35 lbs for the 16" models 2.55 lbs for the mid-length 18" models 2.60 lbs for the rifle length 18" models 2.85 lbs for the 20" models 3.45 lbs for the 22" models
  14. Midwest Industries is getting their feet wet in the .308 AR world with their new MI-10 line of rifles. We put together a little sneak peek blog post if you'd like to take a look! www.criterionbarrels.com/media/midwest-industries-mi-10-announcement
  15. Who is planning on making it out to Nashville for the show next month? It's free for NRA members, so if you find yourself in the area feel free to drop by! We'll be exhibiting at booth #50, and will have a prototype ADM UIC-10A on hand if you want to get your hands on some AR goodness. If you stop by the booth and mention you're a .308AR.com member, we might have some freebies tucked away behind the booth for you! More details can be found here: www.criterionbarrels.com/media?article_id=118
  16. Just wanted to give you folks a heads up that we added a list of new barrels we have in development to our website media page. I'd post a link, but I'm having trouble getting it to copy to the forum properly.
  17. Ouch, I don't know if I'd recommend taking a hacksaw to one of our barrels. That would probably make for a pretty rough crown!
  18. Unforgiven, I believe that's the first request we've received for a 14.5" rifle length barrel. If a market develops for barrels in that particular configuration, then we would be happy to look into adding that option if we can reduce the length and still have enough room to fit the gas block.. Feel free to spread the word, and when enough folks get onboard we'd be happy to get those barrels into production! In response to survivalshop, I know we put the prints together for a 16" rifle length barrel and sent the first batch out to production, but I'm not sure what the ETA will be (we'll have to test some samples to properly size the gas port diameter).
  19. Zebra644 we have the prints needed to get a barrel put together, but first we have to get the DPMS pattern barrels up and running, then we'll look at Armalite, S&W, DPMS GII, etc.
  20. It looks like we might also have a few 6.5 Creedmoor models in the works as well. I believe those should be ready for release in June or July.
  21. As our .308 AR barrels continue to find their way on to rifles across the country, we'd love to see the end results of your build projects. Earlier today Steve Adelmann of Citizen Arms shared a few photos of his latest projects. Using factory ammunition and a CBI barrel he has been able to achieve consistent sub-MOA grouping. I can only imagine how well those rifles would perform if he had time to work up a good hand load! If you have a photo of a CBI build (AR or not), feel free to toss it up here. I'll make a point to keep adding photos submitted to us from .308 AR manufacturers using our barrels (including Citizen Arms, Fulton Armory, and American Defense Manufacturing). -Josh
  22. We just finished modifying the prints to accommodate a 16" rifle length model for both our .308 AR and AR-15 line. We're also doing some research to see if we can add barrels to production (18" and 22") that can be configured for S&W and Armalite pattern rifles as well. Those 16" rifle length barrels should be entering production shortly.
  23. We are working on developing a line of nitrided barrels to accompany our chrome lined and stainless steel models. I believe we're starting with the .308 AR's, but nitrided AR-15 barrels should be coming through the pipeline shortly.
  24. Thanks Blue109. Just talked to the boss. Pixie dust and glitter coated barrels will be available on April 1st.
