It not about a phobia, it’s about at what point do you change calibers and at what point do you change the porpoise of the firearm. boattail into the case body is much different than almost filling the case body 147’s in my AR9 perform much differently than the 147’s in the the AR10 I'm interested in how the 1/5 work with the 90’s and also the 52/55/62. my 300blk shoots well with the 110’s and the 180’s I’m almost out of, but I think I will focus on the 110’s. I would imagine If the 1/5 5.56 gave a similar performance to the 110’s of the 300blk I may switch barrels and replace my 300blk with another 5.56 with a 1/5 barrel So many variations of the same calibre, so little time… I am thinking of picking up this barrel, as I have a side charging upper collection dust and haven’t decided on its purpose. And I think I may start breaking down my 300blk.

Are the bullets still in the neck when seated or do they intrude into the case body? I’m not a fan of that myself but whatever works.

Careful what you wish for. anyway how deep would 90’s have to be set in the case for the ammo the fit the magazine? talk about 10lbs of poop in a 1lb bag.

Ohh yeah, at one point I had a Siamese Mauser in 45-70 with a Lyman Alaskan, it could get close to 458win mag specific velociraptors.

what firearm are you using that in? I had a pedersoli sharps and an 1895 Marlin.

Maybe you can squeeze a 510gr postell in there over 5gr of unique? I used to use the 510 over 6gr unique for 45/70 but I don’t think you could fit 6gr in the .556 case

1:5? WTF? Do you swage down 230gr 45acp bullies for that? this is coming from a guy that has 1:12 and 1:14 barrels… and shoots nuthin over 55gr in 5.56….

So this is the offending ar10… I discovered yesterday that my 25 round magpul magazines will NOT seat unless I only load them with 24 rounds, I haven’t tried the 20 round ones to see if they seat with 20 or 19 rounds… not sooper happy about that… I do believe I have only ever used the metal-enhanced magazines before… The front fixed ar style sight rear backup sight, useless in an emergency….

I imagine I could live with that…

I sez in my first post.. This is my matrix aerospace ar10. all armalite internals but with a modified lr308 bolt catch. takes whatever the magazines that aren’t the fubared m1a ones… in .22mag…

I absolutely would love to make it irons only. I have my M39sov for a scoped rifle and and my colt 3x? Maybe it’s a 4x on my xm177e2 and that’s enuff for me. the ar10 with a scope is fine too and with the 4-14 scope it would be formidable and easier to get out to 1k but easy is boring.

I didn't know there were sorted politics involving the company.... Dunno I like the protective wings on most rear sights, but the magpul has an awful lot of metal around the aperture. I sight over the aperture under 20m, I might have to aim at knees to hit the neck on that one. I haven't tried that diamond aperture, and I'm curious as to how it works. it is flipable with a smaller diamond with an iron cut. says 300m on the big and 500 on the little un. we'll see how it does at 500 and 800 respectively I have 1 HK style front wings and 1 (now 2) of the AR style wings. the HK style is a much nicer view, but the AR style is familiar. There are a few amazon and ebay MIC a2 style rear sights but they look superbly crappy...prices range from $15-60 and they all look cheap.. too bad I can't find an Armalite carry handle A2....

I have one .300 blackout I built, it’s just ok, I think the thing I do like least about it is the compatibility with the .556 magazines. I don’t want any confusion during the zombie apocalypse. BUT my only flat top ARs are the ones chambered in .300, .308 and 9mm so it cuts down on confusion. There is no mistaking which magazines belong to this little gem, I think this is the first picture I have taken of it, as there are many like it but this one is mine it’s a milled yugo underfolder, pictured with my mossberg deerslayer. the only thing I would like is a light mount but I don’t want to add a tacticool rail or any of that carp, although a railed plastic forend wouldn’t make it look any uglier.
