  1. "Shall not be infringed"
  2. I will be sending them a confirmation letter, I really don't see how pushing in 2 pins can be seen as "manufacturing".
  3. I'm leaning toward MaTen or Midwest for the Handguard, and of course the Ranier barrel I had decided on is now out of stock..... Back to the drawing board...... If I can find a rifle length gas system, I'm going 15" handguard, or 12" with mid.
  4. Once Nodak gets me my lower I'm sending in paperwork myself. The only place I have seen reference to engraving personal information on the lower is on the various gun boards. Nodak is the manufacturer of mine, not me, and their info is already engraved on it. I'm filing mine as a personal.
  5. That's not helping Robo! I'm kinda in the same boat, I'm building mine with the BCG and barrel last. I have a 24" Wilson barrel on one of my 5.56's and it out shoots me, I was about to get a select until you mentioned the makers.
  6. My Citizen watch finally died after 15 years of abuse. I replaced it with a Seiko Solar, and after a year I'm liking it better than the Citizen. Seiko was around $250.
  7. The XS and the JP look to be a little too simplistic, I think I prefer more complicated! KAC seem to be in the lead so far, if the Dueck were closer in price I would definitely go that route.
  8. The company that sells the $80 version is called American Defense, it really does look like a re-branded $20 set. I don't think I'm about to spend the time and money to be proven wrong. Thanks for the new avenues to pursue, I do like the KAC and the MagPul sets. The eBay set served its purpose in showing me what I want in an offset sight set. And it's worth the money for the insight it gave me. What I like about it is, 1) it is low profile. 2) it does not fold. 3) it uses a familiar A2 design. 4) it is adjustable for 300-600 yards The Dueck Defense was the $250 set I was referencing in the first post, it does fit the things I like about the cheapie set, but it's still $100 more than the KAC and MagPul sets. So far the KAC set is adjustable for different ranges, but it has the drawback of being pop-up, and it doesn't look as low profile.
  9. It helps if you read the first post.
  10. So on an AR 15 build I did recently I used a non QD scope mount, so traditional flipup sights weren't going to work for back up. I ended up spending just over $30 for a set of 45 degree offset sights off eBay. They are A2 styled They sighted in very well, but the A2 elevation wheel is just a solid piece, and some of the springs are sub standard. There is a supposedly "American made" version of these sights available for $80 but hosetly they look to be the exact sights I have except with the company logo screened on it. So I'm hesitant to buy these for my AR-10 build. There is another company that makes a set that looks to be extremely high quality, but at $250 it's really not worth the price for back up sights. What offset sights do you use?
  11. I'm in the same boat, new 308 builder. The Rainer has been suggested to me as well, but I am also looking a a MaTen? I think it's called. I'm looking at 18" mid or rifle length gas system.
  12. AND clean our goddamm rifles.
  13. 18" Rifle length, is good for me, but I'm not a stainless or chrome lined fan.
  14. By the end of this week, everything for my first AR-10a build.
  15. I was looking for a long range semi auto. I was looking to replace the 2 PSL's I once had, but they are too expensive now, and the Dragonov I have always wanted has been too expensive for too long. I already have several AR variants so I figured adding an AR-10 was the next logical step.
  16. New to the 308 ar, and I decided on an 18" mid length. I shoot out to 500 regularly and 1000 when I have the opportunity. If I was limited to 500 I'd go with the 16" barrel.
  17. Glad I found this topic, the BCG I was going to buy went out of stock, now I'm looking at the aero or Fulton.
  18. Yeah that was my thought as well, it was more of a flat top mil spec type, and after I change a few parts around I won't have exactly what I want, and it will cost the same. So far from Armalite I'm getting the LPK, A2 stock/buffer/spring set and the charging handle. I have picked out an 18" LR 308 fluted barrel mid length with an LR BCG, LR gas block and tube. The handguard will be the Midwest 15" with the ar-10 nut. I was looking at the Armalite scope mount but it didn't give enough info, it just said it was for up to a 50mm scope, and I don't want to fool with spacers for the 30mm, I have bushnell peppr on another rifle that I like. Im assuming the forward assist and ejection port door are not AR/LR specific. Am I missing anything?
  19. The LGS has a DPMS complete rifle for $900 I was almost tempted.
  20. Yeah already have most of my parts picked out and I'm over $1,100. So much for cheap!
  21. Thanks so much for the information, that makes a lot of sense, Midwest was on my short list for the handguard anyway, they make a nice guard with just a top rail. I'm not looking to break the bank with this build, I already have glass in mind, now to cruise the site sponsors for an 18-20" barrel and BCG. She will get shot out too 1000 yards quite regularly, and I have a few thousand 180gr projectiles just itchin for the opportunity.
  22. Hey all, I came across this site looking for parts for my newly acquired upper and lower set. I have built a few AR's and I was on gunbroker one night and hit the buy it now on a Matrix Aerospace set. So far I have decided to buy an A2 stock and the LPK direct from Armalite. I still have some confusion on the barrel/BCG options and free float handguard compatibility, but I'm sure they'll be answered soon enough
