AR-15 BOLT CATCH ROLL PIN INSTALLATION - TIPS and TRICKS
lasher replied to imschur's topic in Cleaning ,Maintenance and Tools
i use mega billets and they all had the threaded pin, have a forged mega and you have to drive the pin in. i use a tooth cut to less tha 1/2 inch and use it as a guide, get everything in place with the toothpick and then let the roll pin ,,,well roll,,,it drives out the toothpick and you're good to go. i use the blue 2" painter tape wrapped around the area to prevent those unsightly dings <laughs> -
anyone tried this tool for tapered sight pins?
-
opiates,,codeine, gotta hurt, those will cure the hurt
-
nope, having a wonderful day. how about you? to quote captain mccall from lonesome dove, "i can't abide rude behavior" , so i ignore it. greatest invention on the planet, the ignore function. plus getting to use "henceforth" is always a pleasure

used to fall and we had some bounce, doesn't work that way now, it friggin hurts. heal up and next time you need to go down the hill, lay down first and roll,,,you might hire some one to police your roll zone first tho

i have a 3x9 on a 20" 6.8spcII, and the 3x on a 5.56, just ordered one to replace the 3x on the 5.56. the p-308 isn't in stock yet at optics planet,,,and i may change my mind while waiting. took them both to the range yesterday, dialed them in. happy with the results, they'll do what i want them to do once i move the 3x to a carbine length
-
no, i don't have an AR10, i have two AR10's - five 6.8 spcII - three 5.56. as for FAUX PAS versus fopaw you simply aren't making sense, or perhaps it's an inside joke. at any rate put me on your ignore list, you're certainly on mine henceforth. have a lovely day
-
thanks, academy is running the 3x9 on sale now
-
the P was built for the 5.56, that's what the reticule is designed for. but i only care about cross hairs. and likely has lesser lense quality, but Nikon's bad glass is still good glass

i put a P223 on a 20" 6.8 spc and took it to the range today. got it dialed in and it works great on the 6.8 spc. wondering how well it would work on a 308, figure it would work well for awhile but if it would stand up to the pounding?

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?

it's only paper that people trade valuable stuff for. not even good toilet paper -
good to know, care to divulge your recipe?

i used to reload shot shells on progressive Mecs decades ago. want to load up some brass now, which means starting from scratch. i've read/compared/analyzed till my gourd is over stuffed with data. i already have what i consider to be a good brass source, once i put a bigger dent into the stash. gonna load the following; 1. 5.56 with the 77gr bullet 2. 6.8 with 110gr bullet, maybe 115gr 3. 308 in the 150gr zone i have multiple chambers in each caliber to load for, so will be loading more or less, a factory round. won't be loading for the ultimate group, just for decent accuracy. will be using S&B brass for 6.8. have 6 chambers to load for will be using IMI brass for the 5.56 and 308 with multiple chambers in each i'm thinking the dillon 550 or the lock and load will fill my needs/wants. not factoring in the press and extras looks like sub 30 cents a round is an average cost. not going to start loading to "save" money, altho for the 6.8 and the 308 the cost will be lower, but really just to keep busy doing something i enjoy. so, Dillon or the Lock and Load? help sway me off center <lmao>

can't ever have enough tools <dontknow>

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
lasher replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion

sorry to have wasted your time, add me to your ignore list, but if there are topics this old on the front page of reading material then the board must not be very active. i just read and respond, don't care about dates. it's data that could or could not be useful to future readers. have a lovely day

just after last christmas i bought a ptac 308 lower, complete, month or so later bought the 18" psa upper. you can see daylight between the receivers. took it to the range at 50 yards with iron sights it shot about 2" dead right of center, put some left windage on it and it was in the black. ran a silouette out to 100 yards and it shot center of mass, tried 3 head shots and they were in a horizontal row about where a nose would be. it's not purdy, and doesn't fit well, but it does shoot and did so right out of the boxes. i've since built a mega arms matched upper and lower, using the barrel that comes with that upper (i had 2 of them), gonna take it out tomorrow, if it performs as good as the ugly sister then the ugly sister will likely go on the block, along with an extra bcg and upper. it's the worst fitting psa gear i've purchased, but it does perform

i use a lymans punch kit, comes in a wooden box, 6 punches and a hammer with a brass end then a nylon/composite end, has a tungsten end for extra ooompf on the bottom of the handle, i use Grace short roll pin punches, some no name roll pin starters, a pivot pin tool, and DPMS claws in 556 and 308, sometimes a barrel block when clocking a muzzle device,,,and forgot i use oak 1/4" dowels alot too, sometimes use 1/2 a clothes pin without the spring of course

Who makes the best 308 mag loader?
lasher replied to BR-549's topic in Cleaning ,Maintenance and Tools
that's the one i use, works fine -
How often do you guys clean your barrel
lasher replied to Cali_Ed's topic in Cleaning ,Maintenance and Tools
i clean after every firing, if one has been in the safe for awhile and not fired i'll wipe it down and run a CLP patch thru it. the Green Machine trained me to do that, a clean serviceable weapon can keep you taking nourishment
