  6. thanks everyone, i will alter the signature, if it's over the top let me know, i'll alter it
  7. i put them on all of my Mega Arms builds, an ounce of protection is worth,,,you know the drill. not concerned so much with walking but rotation of the stock pins. a couple of aimpoints is all the bling i own
  8. i like to have the scope as close to the barrel as possible, i use TruGlo and UTG 1/2" risers

    Tools?

i've put DPMS panther claws to good use in several builds, one of the 2 tools you have to use or Mega Arms will not honor their warranty. slides into the upper and completely fills it, even has a gas tube slot, has pins that go into the take down/pivot lugs. i've torqued barrels to Mega's specs using it,,,they specify 75 pounds of torque, but you dial in 65 because their wrench makes up for the additional 10 pounds. once i got one for the AR15 and AR10 building became much easier

    Fwd Assist

i got there in august 65 and never carried anything but an M14 and a 1911A1, sometimes a Blooper. we didn't see M16's up in Indian country until later in 66 just after Operation Hastings, i was in country for 29 months 10 days all one big long tour
  11. i observe streaming eagle nests, record them and post to youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFkvosKUbOyw3loJjQQ2iLw also veggie garden, build things, pitter around
  12. Mega is all i use anymore, nice fit every time, things work the way they are supposed to work...hmmm, let me count em up...have 6 built up with Mega parts

  14. ribbon patrol eh? sounds like it's over the top, i'll delete then. thanks
  15. thanks, is my signature over the top? at another board i posted on a member took me to task for displaying ribbons and awards,,,don't want to step on any toes
  16. have to admit i'm totally flummoxed by all this open/concealed stuff. as a lad many years ago, i walked into an OTASCO store, plunked down my $18 and walked out with a 303 Enfield, carried it down the street and walked it home. every pickup you saw had weapons on display in the rear cab window. only the "concealed" part would get you into trouble. it's a right, not a privilidge,,,that being said - common sense should apply. but in my experience common sense is in short supply, always has been
  17. i have 2 AR10, one a PSA upper and lower with 18" barrel. Fit and finish offended me, altho it shoots straight and has run fine. decided to build one that would please me on the fit and finish aspect. here's what i used to build it; 1. Mega Arms matched upper and lower 2. Aim NIB bolt and carrier 3. 18" PSA barrel that was laying around the place 4. FailZero trigger, hammer, disconnector 5. BCM charging handle 6. Tubb buffer spring 7. A2 stock 8. Armalite carry handle 9. Will add an ARP Vortex muzzle brake when they are in stock again. nothing fancy with optics or rails, just iron sights. plan a range trip with it this Tuesday
  18. have 2 AR10's, got into them for energy on target, if required. but mostly cause i fondly remember the M14
  19. first experience with 308/7.62 was when i was issued one at MCRD in 1964. carried one around for the next 4 years, sometimes replaced with a 1911A1 or a Blooper combination. Finest rifle i ever fired, all of mine were Remington built. Only fired it full auto once, that was enough. Qualified with it at Camp Matthews at the 200,300, and 500 yard firing lines. never liked the AR particularly until about 4 years ago, the beta model M16 was responsible for many needless deaths in sunny SE Asia, and i was prejudiced and loathed the thing. fortunately they never got my M14 away from me. have built several Ar15 over the last couple of years, in 5.56 and 6.8, pieced together an AR10 from PSA which isn't a great looker but shoots straight. recently bought a Mega Arms Maten upper and lower, put an 18" barrel in it, no rail on this one - just D ring and mid length hand guards. will likely take it out tuesday and run some IMI thru it. kinda looking for reload data using IMI brass and Milspec bullets. anyway, here i am, and will proceed to read. thanks
