Another quick update... I couldn't get the alignment squared away with the Griffin 30SD on the OEM Tavor brake. So on went a Griffin 30SD Flash Comp, and it's perfect. I took the rifle out to a buddy's house yesterday morning to run some rounds through it and break in my 30SD. She ran like a champ on Federal XM80. Turned the gas block over to "Suppressed," and she ran great, with very little gas in the face. What there was was absolutely tolerable. This thing sounds like a nail gun with the can on! After about 5 rounds with the can, my buddy (who was standing right next to me and has never fired anything suppressed) taps me on the shoulder and says, "Take your ears off! This is the sh*t!" No pics -- I was having too much fun and quickly ran out of time. Had to go get the kids from Nana's house. Back to reality!

I've used the AccuShot monopod with great success. I've always just used the sling stud mount version, but recently purchased a BT13-QK (rail-mount, 4.75"-5.65") for my CSASS rifle. As it turns out, I can't estimate height for shìt, and what I have is too short for what I need. [EDIT: Waiting for the peanut gallery to chime in here...] If that height range will work for you, I'll make you a deal. I'd rather hook you up than go through the returns process for OpticsPlanet/DVOR at this point. Only test fitted, never fielded. Original packaging is long gone. I don't have a pic of mine handy, but here's a link to the product page. https://www.accu-shot.com/catalog_new/accu-shot-monopods-official-manufacturer/63-bt13-qk-prm-precision-rail-monopod-mid-range-with-qk02-quick-knob.html

I have a pair of Bear safes, both their 7230 (72" H x 30" W x 24" D). They're a local (OKC) outfit, and have pics of their safes (when properly bolted to the floor) withstanding an EF-5 tornado. Having said that, they're pretty proud of what they put out -- I think I paid $2,100ish for each of mine, 8 and 10 years ago. https://www.bearsafes.net/

Updating this thread a bit... I got my LaRue C.A.N. mount in last week, and promptly mounted up my Leupold VX-HOG. I think it'll be a decent combination, at least for the time being.

Another not-so-great pic... However, good news: The OEM Tavor brake is compatible with the Griffin 30SD. Checked it with an alignment rod, and that wasn’t too great. But it does have a jam nut on it. I’ll see if some Accu-Washers will straighten that out. If not, a Griffin Flash Comp should work well.

Also, in case you didn't notice, this rifle is OD green. Apparently, according to my dealer, it was the onliest one in the U.S. that was available. Since I don't hate OD green (my Dissipator wears ODG furniture...), I went ahead and took it. It's already growing on me. I threw on some plain ol' MBUS I had lying around (yes, at my office), and it'll get my old Leupold VX-HOG (as soon as Mark LaRue sends me my C.A.N. mount...) for the time being. Thinking a 4x ACOG might be just the ticket for this rifle. I also like the look of the Leupold D-EVO, but I don't know that I'm willing to be the guinea pig on that setup. It looks like it's a solid idea, but in practice it could either be awesome or complete sh¡t -- it seems to me there is no in-between. That's a lot of money to spend on a "hell, let's try it!"

Damn. I walk away from this thread for a day and you fvckers just can’t resist talking about each other’s balls. 😂😂 I went through with the clip and snip. The Rx for Valium the doc gave me (to take 45 minutes before the procedure) may have had something to do with my decision-making on the Tavor. Or, at least, that’ll be one excuse I use... SWMBO and I decided after our first was born that we were done at 2 kids. Well, the little man came last June and that was that. So far, the experience hasn’t been bad. I’m at the point where every move I make feels like someone pinching my incisions. Eesh.

Friday morning, as I was mentally preparing myself for my vasectomy (at 12:30 that afternoon), I got a text from my pusher. Sports South had one Tavor 7 in FDE, and he wanted to know if I wanted it. So..... It should be here in the next day or so.

H.R. 6126 has been referred to both the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Judiciary Committee. At this point, I think the best pressure to apply is to any of your Congresspersons who are on either of those committees. Because if it doesn't make it out of committee, pressure on non-committee members won't make much difference. Also, as an aside, I ran across this yesterday... https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/6126?s=1&r=1 Proposed legislation that would make Form 4 transfers of silencers operate in a similar fashion to NICS holds. BATFE would have 90 days in which to red light your transfer. If no red light after 90 days, the transfer proceeds. They're obviously capable of doing the background portion of SOT transfers within 60 days -- look at Form 1s -- so why do Form 4s take an additional 8 months? I understand backlogging, but damn. From the time my Form 4 was pending to the time I was advised I'd been approved was no more than 60 days. It just sat there before that.

Alright, alright, settle down now! I'll get some pics up later today. This whole Momma working night shift and me having a 3 y/o and a 10 m/o to get to bed every night (plus dishes, laundry, etc.) makes it difficult for Daddy to have his own time...

Got a text from my 'pusher today. Stamp's here! Now time to go fill out my 4473 and pick it up. I'm trying to figure out how it took 28 days for an envelope to get from ATF to Oklahoma.

I've been drooling over these for quite awhile. The story I've heard is that Mahindra has actually owned the rights to manufacture the Willys/Universal Jeep in India since approximately the 1970s and, once the patent/copyright/whatever expired on the early CJ5, they started cranking these out. However, Fascist...er...Fiat-Chrysler America put the kibosh on their importation of Roxors to the US for fear that a street-legal CJ5 copy would hurt their sales of Jeep Wranglers and/or infringe upon whatever rights they still have. So... In exchange for Mahindra not submitting any Roxors for federal safety testing (and, therefore, selling them as "ATVs" or "UTVs" or "Side-by-Sides"), FCA agreed not to pursue any further legal action. Having said that, as discussed in the article, it wouldn't take much to make one street legal. The biggest pain in the ass is going to be getting street-legal title issued so you can tag the thing. If anyone here is in Oklahoma and wants to do this, I can provide the legal forms to take to the District Judge in your county to accomplish this. The filing fee (at the courthouse) is around $150.

I’m not sure on that — I didn’t measure it myself, though I should have... It’ll be whatever Criterion thought it should be. Lol!

The last time I called BATFE, they told me to expect my approval around mid-April. Well, today is 4/10, so that's mid(ish) April, right? I called today, gave them my serial number, name, and dealer's name, and much to my surprise, the nice lady said, "You should reach out to your dealer. Tell them to check their mailbox. You were approved March 25, and they should be getting your stamp any day now." I haven't been this excited in a long time!

@98Z5V thanks for that info. When I ordered the recoil system, I blindly trusted Fulton Armory, but later I questioned whether or not I should have gone with Armalite. As far as changing things around, I may do that later, but for now (after hearing this setup is/should be GTG), I'm going to stick with one change at a time until we get her running. I corrected what I believe to have been some misalignment of the gas block which caused short-stroking, even at (and past...oops) WOT. Since this is a 16" rifle gas barrel, I'm hesitant to run a heavier buffer until I get it running as-is.
-
Yeah, seeing now that 98Z5V didn't post what I quoted above, I lend it slightly less credence.
-
This was the post I was thinking of... I mis-remembered who posted it...
-
Ah, okay. I thought I found a post around here from 98 showing a DPMS carbine buffer was closer to (or longer than) 3”.
