Harrell's Precision .875 5/8-24 ported muzzle brake
Merle replied to Merle's topic in For Sale or Trade
I just measured it with my Mitutoyu calipers that measure to .001 and it looks like the brake is somewhere between .874 and .875 even though it was advertised as .875. The exit hole measures .250. If i were to use it I'd probably just get a JP jam nut to time it, open the exit hole up on a drill press, bead blast it, and call it a day. JP sells jam nuts for all the popular AR barrel diameters. -
Harrell's Precision 4 port tactical ss .875", 5/8-24 threaded muzzle brake. I bought this for a project that changed direction. This brake is designed to be blended and timed by a gunsmith. The exit hole will have to be opened up to match the caliber of the users choosing. These are $45 plus shipping on their website. I'm looking for $35 shipped. PayPal friends and family preferred.

I've bought quite a few Blackhawk cases from targetsportsusa. They usually have some pretty good deals on them. This might be a touch short for your application though but maybe not. https://www.targetsportsusa.com/blackhawk-44-padded-double-rifle-case-in-black-nylon-61pw01bk-p-54089.aspx -
I got my wife a new knick-knack for the living room. For some reason she doesnt think it goes good with her other knick-knacks but i disagree. Now i just need to go out and visit my buddy Tom to see how it works. Here's the detail: -Mega Maten ambi receiver set -Larue MBT2S trigger -Troy 15" Mlok handguard - Proof Research 416 stainless 20" 308 Winchester barrel, rlgs -VG6 PRS 30 brake -.875" odin works adjustable gas block -LMT BCG -KAC receiver extension, H3 buffer, LMT MWS action spring -SWFA 5-20 in a Seekins Precision 20 moa mount I have a Magpul SLR stock on it right now but an ACS-L is on its way.

You could do a blended/seamless brake but that would require a gunsmith or someone with some lathe skills. Harrel's Precision makes 4 port brake that is already .875" diameter and threaded 5/8-24. But are you sure .875" is the diameter of the muzzle? Usually if a barrel has a gas block seat of .875" the diameter forward of the seat steps down a few thousands smaller all the way to the muzzle. The same can be said for barrels with gas block seats of .750" and .936" as well.

So I got the Mega receiver set, and wouldn't you know it, EVERYTHING fits as it should. So if any of you have been eyeing a Centurion Arms SR-25 compatible receiver set for your next rifle project you may want to reconsider. After I sent their parts back they told me they would just refund me because all their sets have the same specs and if they sent me a different one it would just be the same as the one I returned. I didn't want to metion their name until I confirmed for sure that it wasn't my parts that were out of spec. I just dont want to see someone else go through the hassle I went through, much less the money I wasted with paying the ffl fee and the money I spent sending their parts back. I just figured their set would be primo as they are one of the manufacturers that is in held in high regards due to being owned by a former Navy sniper and because of the quality of their AR15 barrels and handguards. I have one of their CMR handguards on an AR15 and it is awesome. Live and learn I guess.

I just found a smoking deal on a new Mega Maten upper and ambi lower set from a company called Midwest PX. It was $100 cheaper than the set I just sent back. Too bad I'm out about $60 in shipping and ffl fees from the set I sent back. I guess they can justify it by saying that it was my choice to accept a refund for totally in-spec parts. I guess I should feel lucky they didnt charge me a re-stocking fee...the motherfuckers.
-
I almost feel like telling them to send the upper and lower back so I can make some YouTube vidoes showing how awesome their parts are. Did I mention it took around 6.5 pounds of force to slide in a BCM Gunfighter charging handle?
-
Well just got word from the manufacturer that their upper and lower was in spec but they will issue a refund if I'd like. I guess a receiver extension is supposed to fit so loose that you can damn near pull it out when it's threaded in to their lower and a barrel nut that moves up and down .030" when threaded on to their upper is considered in spec in their part of the country. So the search is on again for a SR-25 style upper and lower.
-
The threads on the upper receiver fit into the barrel nut like the proverbial hotdog down a hallway. So yeah it's pretty sloppy.
-
That's the pic I used on my gay porn resume.
-
Thanks for checking for me guys. I am taking this up with the manufacturer of the upper. I also had problems with their lower as well having out of spec threads for the receiver extension.

Why is building an AR10 so damn complicated?
Merle replied to JohnnyBfromAZ's topic in Building a .308AR
Hell yea! I'll probably start a thread once I get all my parts together. Still trying to decide on a few things like which barrel to go with. Too bad I gave some bearded fella all my 308 brass. Ha! -

I know I'm a little late to the party but I'm about to start assembling a rifle using a Centurion Arms SR-25 compatible upper and lower receiver set. It has the KAC/Armalite angled cut and is sans FA. It sounds like its right up the OPs alley. I had to wait a while for these to come back in stock and it lloks like as of now they still have them. -
I have a feeling this thread is spiralling into modern folklore and I'll I wanted to do was hock a second hand muzzle brake.

Tom is an awesome guy! It was more than a pleasure meeting him. Can't wait to go out shooting with him. Thanks again buddy!

Let's do it. I work nights at Luke AFB or we can meet some time this weekend. I'm off the I17 and Greenway. I'll do an even $50 since I won't have to hassle with shipping. I tried to send you a private message with my phone number but your profile is not set up to accept messages.

Brake is in excellent condition. It was used for exactly 120 rounds on a 6.5 Grendel. 5/8-24 threas. Comes with a jam nut which works and looks better than a crush washer. It is designed to overlap the barrel so there is no gap once installed. The nut has an inside diameter of .770 so it will fit most AR barrels. $55 shipped. I have great feedback on AR15.com as Mizerle.

Well it looks like the buffer in the PA10 receiver extension kit is a H1 buffer. It doesn't have any markings on it but a quick check using my wife's kitchen scale puts it at around 3.75 and 3.80 ounces. My rifle cycled fun with the 100 rounds of cheap Tula 308 I ran through it but I will probably go ahead and buy the Armalite spring and AR10 carbine buffer to see if it will tame the recoil a bit.

I know I'm new here but I've been selling parts on other sites for years with excellent feedback. I have a never used/fired ASA side charging 308 upper. Has a few handling marks from test fitting to various lowers. I found it mates up the best to the CMMG Mk3 lower. It is compatible with low height DPMS handguards. Comes with their modified bolt catch. $220 shipped Paypal f&f preferred. Details from their website: https://www.americanspiritarms.com/product-p/scr-308-woc.htm 308 SIDE CHARGER - "LR-308 COMPATIBLE" For those that choose to modify their own carrier, this is our same high quality side charger upper receiver that does not come with our modified carrier. For customers that already have their own carriers and need them modified you can have the factory modify your carrier for $45. Please call in and talk to any of our Sales Representatives for this service. At American Spirit Arms we're proud to offer our industry-leading Side Charger Receiver. This receiver was designed as one of the most highly desired options for the AR Platform. By relocating the charging action to the side, as opposed to the rear of the receiver, the shooter can maintain a sight position and shooting position while charging the chamber with ammunition. Additionally, the charging handle on our side charger receiver does not reciprocate with the action of the bolt. This provides a much safer operation than the alternative. *Works with Most LR-308 Pattern Lower. Due to the various different dimensions of the 308 lowers out there we make NO Guarantee that these uppers will fit any certain lowers.
