Interesting, I come up with about .062" gas port on the barrel I have. Looks like Albroswift has success drilled up to .078". I'm thinking mine is definitely going to need some opening up.

Bartender . . . give me one of those! Showed up on the porch last night. Glad to hear your port drill worked out. Did that with an FAL once and had to have a guy run an Electro Drill Machine on it. Are most of you opening up the gas port to get these running?

That place is pretty impressive isn't it! I checked it out, it's about 2hrs out or as in Tejas . . . "just down the road a piece". I lived outside of Houston when I was a kid and heard that so many times before we drove another 100 mi.

Best place that is close sounds like it's this Nardis gun club. Wondering if anyone has been there or knows of a better place within an hour of San Antonio?

Vacationing with the family in San Antonio. Anyone know of the Nardis gun club? I'd like to shoot some autos when we're down there. Sadly they don't have any belt fed from what I understand.

Well that scale is one lying sack of shite! Got another scale and I'm sitting at 10 lb. 13.5 oz. Not quite a lightweight.

Sure enough .097" was enough with setting 10 on the adjustable gas block.

Yup you guys were absolutely right. I figured as much, brass fte then adjusted gas block and got it to eject but would never hold the bolt back. Opened her up tonight with a .097 for another try. Got the barrel broke in and scope sighted in. Ready for final adjustments now. I frickin knew that .080 was too damn small. Are they making these barrels work with super light springs and light bcg or something?

It's been a while since I've been to this site after completing my 308 AR. I know I'm still new here but I've been at FalFiles, Sigform etc for a long time with good feedback. I thought I'd offer these here as well. I've got three FDE Primary Arms SLxZ Advanced Push Button 20mm Micro red dots. 2moa dot 5.5oz 50 thousand hrs run time new in box with everything it shipped with (wrenches, soft cloth bikini covers and thread locker). These were mounted but never in the field. New from PA $195 with the lower 1/3rd mount. If you've seen the tests on these they are very rugged and battery life that is finally approaching the Aimpoint dots. I am looking for $170 with the lower 1/3rd mount. I'll split shipping with you. As it turned out the kit I ended up with was a blem. Not real clear to me why but I'm glad I ended up with it. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal though. Seems like these days it's dang near impossible to find a company that can find their ass with both hands. In my biz though Chaos is CASH! I work on the flightline for a manufacturer in the NW. Just ordered the PA 3-18 and lightweight mount. Can't wait to get it tested and then think about paint.

Well I did end up with my "freedom" lower in the builder set I ended up with, but I think you were right on the "what's out there is out there" statement. AP told me they were producing more of these on Veteran's day but I've yet to see them mentioned? Glad I ended up with one. I've got her built except for some glass. Want to get that and do the sight in / bore break in at the same time. I'm looking hard at the PA 3-18X50 ACSS HUD. Has anyone used the Aero Precision ultra light SPR scope mounts? I've read they tweek some while mounting? Over all I'm impressed with the weight of this thing. I was expecting it to be a bear. I'm almost not believing my numbers. Looks like with this scope and mount I should be under 9lbs. Also may play around with a 2A X3 comp I bought for a 300 BA build. The upper 3lb 8.4oz: 16" Criterion hybrid, SLR sentry7, CMB-Q6, AP M5E1+15" Mlok, Toolcraft bcg, MADefense Sniper CH. Lower 3lb 0.01oz: AP M5, AP lpk, Pmag 20, MBT2S, Magpul K2+CTR, Armalite recoil group. Hoping she runs well without too much teething pain.

Planning a family vacation this spring to San Antonio. I lived near Houston for a few years back in the 80s but never made it to SA. While there I want to shoot some full auto but have no idea where to go. I've found a few places to rent: Oxhunting ranch and drivetanks (seem to be the same outfit?), Nardis Gun club and the Bullethole Range. Anyone have the loadout on a good place to go?
