no. disassembled and wiped it down. reassenble with lite lube.
-
no. Swapped his assembly into my rifle and works fine.Put mine into his worked fine. Put his back into his upper and will cycle. My thinking right now is his combo if all new stuff is just.000_ tight somewhere
-
To add to confusion. His BCG cycles in my upper and mine cycles in his upper, but his will not cycle in his upper. You all follow that. LOL
-
more looking for way to use this one.Plus one I have came with rifle we took it out of and no idea who's.

Helping a buddy with his build. Test firing rifle and does not cycle. Swapped his BCG for mine and fires fine. Only thing I have found is when bolt is rotating back it has quite a bit more drag than mine. Now his is new and mine few hundred rounds used. Pulled it apart and cleaned, reassembled and same thing. Not sure who's BCG,was bought as complete assembly. He bought from few different sites against my advise. Ideas?

Helping a buddy build a 308 and building me 7mm-08.Looking at McGowen barrels, but have run across deadshot and wondering about there quality. Anyone any experience with them
-
Wondering what twist rrate works best with 308 in ar 10 with 20" barrel?
-
just ordered 3.Two for friends and one for me,so really hoping you guys are right.

Doing a 80% build and about to buy a trigger for it. Wondering whats best bang for buck trigger. I have Timneys in cpl bolt actions and love them. I know Geissele is standarad bad ass for lots. I also know get what you pay for.Build is one step at time .low to no budget(too many hoobies). Will be used for hunting and target shooting mostly. Like nice clean crisp break and if possible ib 3 to 4 pound range and closer to 3.

Wondering how much difference there really is in bolt carriers. HAve seen bunch of different material./finishes and read up on benifits. From a durability and accuracy what is better and why. New guy gathering info and all can be helpful. Not looking to make malke parts feel mbetter just build accurate and very dependable rifle. HAve too many hobbies(drag race and cpl Harleys) to spend extra for little or no real benefit. Input

Don't mind the wait its been slow build anyway.Plus whats a cpl weeks for a gun I will be using till I can't use it anymore and I have to leave to someone in my will.

Looking at ordering a McGowen custom barrle for my 7mm-08 AR 10 build. Looking for any feed back on them good bad or even better suggestion
-
Anyone done a build with 338 federal. Just caught me attention and ballistics look pretty goo. Catching attention normally means having one is in near future.
-
Stupid question ,especially since I think I know answer. Can you swap barrle while using same upper with a mounted scope and be fairly close on accuracy.Mean sayin 10 clicks up or down and same right to left. Just wondering since there are so damn many options caliber wise. Like any good gun nut I want them all. Real cost comes in with scopes.

Ok. Building a AR10 in 7mm-08. Works with reloading supplies on hand. Have 80% lower and upper from Noreen and getting ready to order few more parts. Looking at Thundr tactical lower build kit.Input if used. While it has a POS triggr I will be going Timney n trigger, have three and love how they work. Would like input on Barrel's,bolt carrier groups(especially finishs). Not looking to build worlds baddest piece just very good shooting and durable piece.I don't try to burn gun up seeing how many round to melt it,we do have some fun days at range. I would like to be able to pull off 500 yard shot if needed and while most guns are more accurant than the guy pulling trigger,I would like the gun to be more than capable of doing so regularly.

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?
wideopen231 replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
sorry I am a devil child. I went with AR platform but in 7mm-08. Little better down range than 308 in some bullets and I have a 7MM rem. mag,a 7mm Mauser rifle and a 7mm Mauser pistol, well shotened rifle that is hand held and can not be shouldered. So 7mm-08 means same projectiles in reloading cabinet.Hell always wanted one too. I went AR platform because it just plain works and easy to change calibers, basically a upper and barrel and you have another gun. -
I just started a 80% build myself. I got upper and lowers from Noreen firearms.Good prices and no complaints on product. I was actually surprised at how nice the lowers are. I went with billet piece. I am looking at lots of suppliers and trying to work thru who has best piece for price and what I actually need to spend extra on to make it best rifle I can. Too many choices on some ppieces and not sure which are hype or Johnson growers and which may really improve either durablity and/or accuracy.Example is botl carrier group Prices from 105 to 280.Differences being either coating or material made out of. Lowe end looks to same as both my current AR's. Then you have nitride and cpl others with special coatings. Heck I am not building this to make me feel bada--.I want a dependable and very accurate rifle w/o second mortgage .

well by log range i Don't mean 500 plus.It does not have the power for that IMO. Its a good 300 yrd. and maybe 400 under perfect conditions. Talking deer size animals. I want very good accuracy at those ranges. As for custom Barrel already priced that in and looking at around 400 for barrel. As for 22" I feel it should give good velocity while little less than 24" I doubt I am good enough to know difference. Have not found any 7mm-08 barrels as standard deal. Heck same cases except.024 smaller neck. Yes same everything except barrel. Are trigger pins in same location in relation to bolt catch and mag. as AR-15. Have jig on the way and will know then, just wondering after doing some looking at two.

Hi, New to forum.Working on first AR build. Building a AR10 and maybe be sacrilegious but going with 7mm-08.Hey half my toys are 7mm and works well using same projectiles in most of them. Question right now.Bolt carrier group and barrel selection. More limited on suppliers due to the 7mm-08. Anything special about the m matching up and head spacing all being right? Do I need a matched set or will pieces from separate manufactures work. Rear on one site had to be both theres or would not work. Build is more for long range shooting and going with 22" barrel HBAR, fluted in SS. Looking at cpl different manufactures, but open to suggestions. Not biggest budget in world, but not looking to build cheapest thing either. Don't mind if have to spend to get better as long as its worth cost and not just hype. Only person I have to impress is me,but I am picky SOB. On bolt carriers are there any big benifit to the higher priced stuff as far as reliable under normal use,its not a combat piece. Not going to try to melt the barrel or anything. Suggestions welcome.
