Hey babe! Thank you for joining! I'll show ya the cute chick pics this afternoon lol.

Exactly 98, I'm 99% certain he'll need the spring and buffer. Since we know for a fact I need them too, then it's easy to justify buying it all at once. Off topic, but did you catch the part about 4 quarters in mine in the other thread? It was exactly where you suggested it would be. 3 worked as well, but we figured if 4 works it's just added insurance against beating the lower to death. He's going to take the tube to work some night and mill it down so Its a more legit fix. Sorry, I'll get back on topic now lol.

May very well be. I'm pushing him to get the buffer and spring right first. His B-day is right around the corner so we're gonna get him a spring for sure, possibly a buffer too. I swear it looked just like a PSA carbine buffer we have laying around. Also that little ejector adjustment tidbit is going to really impress the boys lol. Plus if I know my brother, he won't stop until he has more mags than he can carry regardless. It really was fun to shoot, just gotta get him set up right first. Y'all are awesome!
-
Don't know what they are. Not Glock branded, or any other branding that we found. 28rds I do know that, or at least 28 sight holes in the back.
-
Bwahahaha, I just read that too! Wow y'all are quick.
-
Ah another pic I forgot to get!!! The left side feed lip is bent at the very back on both mags he has. We assumed they got dropped, but discovered that they were hitting the (what I'd call) ejector. If they weren't bent there then the mags won't catch apparently. Glad you brought that up, I completely forgot about that little gem. I was enjoying my PBR around the bonfire when that conversation happened lol.
-
Yes I do😀 We brought the rounds that failed to feed home with all the spent brass. They really smacked the chamber pretty hard. Most of them have a deep gouge in the projectile and set back into the brass pretty far. I'll snap a pic whenever we sort the brass out and I find them. I'm just glad he investigated further about the whole barrel nut fiasco. I was shocked to say the least walking up to the pop tent and seeing it in two pieces lol.
-
Oh yeah, that looks amazing!
-
We really like them too. Great for a quick cleaning after caustic ammo. We always keep some Windex and a bore snake in the Mosin ammo can if we're shooting surplus stuff.

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
Peachey replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
RCBS two die set for .308. Used my "blem" credit plus free shipping from palmetto for a whopping $0.00 extra investment on my end. Looking in the Lee book, our .45acp shell holder is the same for .308, so woohoo!! -
Found this in a bag of misc "junk" while cleaning out the locker the other day. Looks like a 742 mag, but it's clearly marked for .308 instead of 30-06. We have no need for it. If anyone needs it let me know. Shipping cost gets it.

Ok, so we got to shoot the .45 yesterday. Super fun little gun. Honestly, I didn't think anything of the recoil. I'll reserve my opinions of the "blade" arm support thing online, but there are some opinions lol. Multiple failures to feed, but we suspect it's a combination of varying OAL and lack of any feedramps whatsoever. It's just like it's crowned on muzzle and chamber ends and that's it. It ran 20 of my personal 1911 .45's flawlessly, which supports the OAL theory as mine are shorter to feed in a officers model. The most serious issue however was that the barrel literally came off in little Bros hands! Evidently the guy that "built" it, didn't tighten the barrel nut! It's had hundreds of rounds at this point, but WTF?!? He noticed that the handguard was getting loose, twist it and it tightened up, decided to investigate, and that's when he discovered that it was the barrel nut itself he was twisting via the handguard. It was a carbon fiber looking tube type of handguard, so he just replaced it with a short rail style and marching barrel nut, but still..... Who doesn't tighten up the barrel nut?!? Good news is the boys got it fixed right up and we continued to have a great day. Goes to show you always have to check other people's "work", especially if injury could result from it. I edited the S/N out of the pics just because it isn't mine and you never know online anymore.

Another thing I forgot to mention last night was the brass catcher. It's just a cheap (UTG brand) one that velcros onto the forend. Worked pretty well so long as you didn't let it get too full and droop down. I'm sure there's better ones out there, but if anyone is wondering, they do work well enough for us.
-
Seriously, no butt kissing, it's thanks in large part to you 98. Thank you for your wisdom, guidance and patience! I was bragging all day about my forum friends.

Oh ok, I'm understanding now. Yeah, definitely need to toe down and dig in on the bipod. The tripod thing was just super unstable to me. We tightened up on the thumb screws but it still just wobbled all over the target. I'd rather shoulder with a sling than that particular set up (simple sling is a priority once my gas tube & buffer set up is squared away. If you see the pics with my Bros .45, he's got a fancy smancy tacticool sling that didn't do it for me either). Of course it could have a bit to do with the Tacky Bitch weighing a touch over 13lbs lol.
-
I was talking about the tripod deal in the pic of me sitting in the chair. Or are you saying dig in on that too? I'm all ears if so lol.
-
Thank you! I totally showed off the video clip you posted last night when we got there today. I'm learning everytime your typing!!

Looking back at the first two pics, I promise I wasn't holding the mag when I actually fired. Guess I was searching for the target. Oh and that tripod thing is great for the smaller calibers, not a big fan with the 308. Also, as a observation, the recoil was very manageable. Reminds me of our 30-30 to be honest. Hubby was saying that kinda makes sense as these were only 150gr projectiles and the rifle is absorbing some of it as is.

Ok, so, where to begin..... Went to the auto parts store after church and got some Synthetic oil. Got down to the property we were shooting on and soaked the bolt and carrier. Started out with just a single round in a pmag, fired and held open just fine (4 quarters in the buffer tube). 3 rounds in a pmag, no problems. Bore snaked and checked the spent primers, good to go. 15 rounds loaded in a pmag, 6 (3 & 3) downrange and I'm windage good and holding 2 dots high at 25yds. Minute of beer can for the remaining 9. Still need to dial in the scope a bit more, but for 60 more rounds I was minute of beer can at 100yds no problem. Just for laughs I did some walking rapid fire holding on a 45deg, basically pretending as if I had offset sights. Not too shabby there either. I can definitely see the appeal of offset sights as a plan B. Shot a suppressed 5.56 for the first time. Really making us consider that avenue. Not too keen on the paper work, but then again, is it any worse than our carry permits? We're already "on the radar" right? Multiple walking drills with my and another's 1911. Same old same old there, just plain fun. Tried some baby buckshot (really tiny short shells, something my brother brought) in my home 12ga. They were cool I guess, but I couldn't justify spending more money on a lesser round. Almost seems like a novelty to me. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 .22's downrange. Mostly by our daughter. Probably the greatest part of the whole day was taking turns helping her pop cans and spent shotgun shells with the .22. And of course she can't have a range day without her Red Rider to get warmed up with before that "bad kick" of the .22....... Shot 1 mag through my little brothers .45 AR. Again, it was cool, and definitely has merits as a defensive tool, but the drop at anymore that 25yds or so got pretty bad pretty quick. Got a story on this one I'll be posting in the appropriate thread asap. Sorry for the quick writing, I'm still on the property grilling out and loving my life, but I wanted to let y'all know all went pretty well. The Trashy Bitch did alright!!
-
Have to give details in a bit, but..... No failures of any sort with the "Tacky Bitch" !!!!! What a great day.
-
Ah yes, but he doesn't have a couch he's dodging! Lol. On a serious note though, I've never seen or considered locking my leg over like that. You can bet I'll give it a go tomorrow. I'm absolutely beside myself for tomorrow. Thank y'all! I'll be making noise with that "tacky bitch" tomorrow!!! I think that's going to be her name, "Tacky Bitch". Maybe get it engraved on the inside of the dust cover.....
-
Thank y'all. The humidity really messed up my plans. I had full intentions of making my own matching camo 308AR.COM shirt😂
-
Here it is! Good enough for now anyway. Definitely needs a bit of brown before it's all said and done, but I'm satisfied for now. Gonna get some high temperature paint for the barrel whenever I go get some brown. Yeah 98 your exactly right! Hair dryer is coming out soon!
-
We actually just cut the fishnets off. Pics coming soon! The grip is tacky still, but I was for warned that was going to happen. It isn't perfect by any stretch, but it's unique and mine lol.

When we were in highschool he let his girlfriend drive his 73 340 Challenger sometimes. I had no idea what it was back then but I was always so jealous of her lol. The Challenger is long gone, but now I'm the one driving the cool cars/trucks. Guess I won.....
