Got 500 each of FGMM primed brass and 175 gr Sierra's, uniforming and trimming necks now. Have to go back to Romania in a couple weeks, so range report might be awhile. These things breed like rabbits. Accumulating parts now for a 308 pistol build.

All together now, waiting for a flash hider. Aero M5 standard upper, Brownells BCG, barrel, gas tube, slip ring assy, and handguards. Aero carry handle, 80% Arms lower, generic A2 stock, JG spring and buffer, ARS charging handle and pistol grip, DPMS mag. oops, not in pic.

Ok, got the delta ring figured out, Brownells actually has a YouTube video for it. The gas tube naturally did not include a roll pin, but the local Ace hardware came thru again, and I now have 10 each of 4 different sizes. This morning I ordered an A2 flash hider and crush ring. Even though this barrel is .308, it has a 1/2" thread. Time to load up more ammo!

Actually, on this trip, just got it lifted, off the runway, and into a hangar. Will have to go back in approximately 2 weeks to do the repairs. My unexpected Romanian vacation....

Kind of a one off from Midway. Was looking for 308 brass, this was advertised as 500 pcs NATO primed brass (but there is no NATO stamp). All headstamped FC 13, and weighs the same as M118LR brass. Unfortunately, crimped primers.

Barrel came with FSB already pinned. Trying to figure out the delta ring assembly, do I need to remove the front sight?

I ordered a bunch of parts from several different companies, then got called out of country unexpectedly, got back home last night. Opening all the packages made me feel like a kid on Christmas morning!

Did you order the gauges directly from PTG? Midway carries the PTG gauges but wants over $50 each. I ordered the Clymer gauges from Brownells for half the price.

Was checking out Brownells repro proto AR10, kinda cool, but if you read the reviews, the receiver set has some problems as far as interchangeability. Also some complaints about the charging handle, but I do like the design. So anyway. Decided to order the barrel and handguard, but use standard DPMS style receivers, with an added A2 carry handle from AP. All my stuff is getting delivered between Monday and Wednesday. A Boeing 767 crashed in Bucharest yesterday, and guess who got elected to go recover the aircraft? At least I shouldn't have to be there for more than a week or so. Watch this space for a pseudo repro retro AR10 build, starting next week!

Bored. Put my DPMS Gen 1 lower on the 6.5. Looks sweet. Might have to go shoot it in the next day or 2.

DNP, that looks pretty sweet! What upper receiver is that on there? I was just browsing Brownells for barrels, and found a Wilson Combat 14 something" barrel. Special order, and uses an "intermediate" length tube, also not in stock, but kinda intriguing. This is in .308, twist is 1 in 11.25. On another subject. Stainless gas blocks. A lot of the adjustables are stainless, but not so much on the "fixed" blocks. I did see a couple titanium ones, at about $75 a pop. Are stainless ones prone to gas cutting, or something?

Know where I could find a stainless heavy 16" that uses a rifle gas system? Everything I've seen uses a mid length system. Trying to keep everything kinda uniform, as far as gas and buffer systems go. I'm a long time target shooter, and appreciate heavy barrels! My shorter rifles are not chiefly for target, but still.

I'm looking at the Ballistic Advantage 24" stainless fluted barrel for my other 6.5. We will see about changing out this barrel down the road.

Well, the name fits, anyway. Not real happy with gas port / barrel shoulder location, it puts the gas tube about a sixteenth short, but I'll roll with it for now and see how it runs.

Well, I'm not into blowing up armor, so a 30-06 would fit the bill nicely. Watching and waiting..... In other news, a couple Brownells (Towncraft?) BCG's were delivered yesterday, and today I got 2 more UTG Super Slim handguards delivered. Have to wait on barrel and stock and buffer system for my SS check. (for my 24" 6.5). My short (18") 6.5 CM build is coming along. Aero M5 upper, 80% Arms lower, Brownells BCG, UTG handguard, and an unknown brand heavy fluted barrel I found on Midway for a buck and a half.....

Same here. I set the upper on bags on my kitchen table, then sight thru the window at a street sign about 50 yards away. When I get to the range, I'm always 3" low at 100.
