Just FYI I had to go all the way to .96 when mine was doing the same thing on my last build.
-
If any of you guys know where I can find the original round handguard that came on these rifles, I would appreciate it.
-
Just an FYI the Odin Works DPMS Low Handguard is a perfect match for the PSA upper receiver. I have looked everywhere for one that would match up and the Odin is perfect.
-
Well it was more to one side than throughout the front of the receiver.
-
No I didn't take pics, but maybe I'm wrong. I took the lapping tool and started lapping the front of the receiver and there were several high spots and wouldn't that mean it wasn't true? I'm a novice at building these things, so that's why I'm asking you? I will say this maybe it needs broken in, but my cheap PSA will out shoot it as of now.
-
I will give Aero credit though and that is that there is zero slop between the receivers. I shot it today and it shoots under a inch moa at a hundred so I am pleased with it and I have no regrets with it.
-
I would have thought the same thing about accuracy until I lapped my PSA receiver and it went from a 2&1/2 inch group to under a inch, so I will lapp every receiver that I buy from now on.

What they said.

I just put one together over the weekend with the same results. The barrel wasn't dimpled for the the gas block, the barrel nut was hand tight and couldn't be timed without shims. The receiver was so out of specs that it probably wouldn't have hit paper, so I lapped it.
-
Yes sir very disappointing .

Guys I put together a Aero Precision AR308 over the weekend and honestly PSA came in better shape than the Aero. The barrel nut was was torqued to maybe 5lbs.and the upper receiver was so untrue that it was ridiculous, plus the barrel wasn't dimpled for the gas block. I lapped the receiver and put some barrel nut shims in it to get it timed and I will give you a range report. So far my decision is to just save money and keep buying PSA.

I took the barrel off and used the wheeler AR308 lapping tool. I lapped the face of the upper receiver until it was true and then bedded the barrel with 609 Loctite. There are some very good videos on youtube showing you the process.
-
Yes sir my PSA gen2 308 is a tack driver, but this gen3 just wasn't accurate until I lapped it.

I honestly don't know what I am going to do when it comes to taking the jab or quitting, but so far my company has told them to stick it. I live in Texas and my company just made Texas their home base instead of New Jersey.

I found this wonderful site by searching for AR10 308 accuracy.

Guy's I lapped the receiver and bedded the barrel with loctite 609 and the results are phenomenal. I went from a two inch group to this. The two shots on the right I was dialing in the scope. I am a happy camper. This is the best forum that I have found.

Guy's I lapped the receiver and bedded the barrel with loctite 609. Here is the results. The other two shots were dialing in the scope. You guys taught me something, because I never knew that you could do this. My group went from two inches to this.
