  1. Aloha gang- Hawaii is strict on pistols and carry laws... but, they're actually pretty good about long guns. There aren't too many restrictions on rifles and shotguns... But you do have to register all of your guns with the police department.
  2. My AMA lil bastard muzzle brake is outstanding, but I had to increase my gas port to get my LR-308 cycling properly after I installed it
  3. With the factory 5/64" gas port, It would short stroke at 18 clicks which is essentially fully opened... any additional clicks to allow bleed off only decreases the gas... Now, With the larger 3/32" drilled out gas port, I can't get it to Short stroke (stop functioning) at full bleed off/ 40 clicks... thats why I'm going to install the 5.3 oz buffer weight and increased power orange Sprinco buffer spring... I want to be able to have enough adjustability "range" to get it to stop functioning with enough bleedoff... (in case I switch to hotter ammo...) . 👍👍
  4. LR-308 16" Wilson combat recon tactical fluted match grade barrel with .750 journal and 13.25"" mid-length gas tube. Factory 5/64" gas port. (.078) Worked great with Yankee Hill Machine Flash Hider. Short stroked when I installed the "lil bastard" AMA muzzle brake . Drilled gas port bigger with 3/32" bit. (.094) Tons of gas now... maybe too much... but, it cycles great... plan on installing heavier buffer weight (5.3 oz) and orange Sprinco spring. I also run a Superlative arms adjustable gas block with it... @98Z5V ??
  5. After living in Florida where gun ownership is simple, Hawaii gun laws raise questions- 1) why must we "register" our guns? 2) why ban silencers and high capacity pistol mags (yet you can own 50 cal rifles) 3) why make it so hard, almost impossible, to conceal carry? 4) what are you supposed to do if you get carjacked or robbed at gunpoint? - criminals ignore gun laws.... No castle doctrine either. But, the weather is great. And, pineapples are cheap.
  6. Here are my 22's My 20" Kidd Bull barrel is insanely accurate 🤙🤙 My 16" fluted tactical Solutions is very light and fun to shoot
  7. I've always had shotguns and pistols in Florida, but when I moved out Hawaii 10 years ago, I only had my glock. Then during covid I got into rifles, then I really got into rifles and bought/ built 9 of them within a year. Kind of nuts, but I'm having a blast with it. First 2 were Mini-14's in 5.5.56 Then a Ruger American Hunter in .308 Then I built (2) AR-10s... 16" battle rifle and 18" dmr with a Bartlein barrel in .308 (LR-308 DPMS) Then I built my wife an Ar-9, and added a Taccom feed ramp for amazing reliability with hollow points Then finally decided to build an AR-15. Then ammo started adding up, so I built (2) 10/22's I'm hoping to gain a lot of technical insight and knowledge from this group. I'm a contractor by trade, and I really enjoy building things and putting stuff together and making the best of the best.
  8. Researching my gas port issue- browsing random forums, and someone recommended this one
  9. I have the Sightron s-tac 3x16x42, and the glass is superb. Midway has it on sale. I also have the Arken Optics 4x16x50 SH4 but the turrets are bulky... super clear glass. Vortex, however, has been great to me for a few customer service issues.. But, my favorite scope is my Leupold VX-3HD 4.5-14x40.
  10. I opened up the gas port on my Aero Precision M5.... it was running flawlessly while I had it set up with the Yankee Hill flash suppressor/ Superlative arms adjustable gas block, 16" Wilson combat Recon barrel / JP polished spring and 3.4 ounce buffer weight.... I had the adjustable gas block 25 clicks from zero (at 18 clicks, the Superlative arms gas block is fully open... added 7 more "bleed off" clicks to reduce gas). Then, I purchased an AMA lil bastard muzzle brake. The brake works great, but it threw off my gas setup... it wouldn'tcycle... I clicked back to 18, fully opened, and it was still short stroking. So, I came home and drilled out the gas port from factory 5/64" to 3/32"...and, holy cow!! Now it's overgassed! Even at 40 clicks, full bleed off, it seems just a bit overgassed.... and, that's with a heavier 4.4 oz buffer weight. So, that's no good because if I ever run hotter ammo, now I can't adjust any further... Therefore, I just purchased an extra power orange Sprinco spring and a 5.3 oz weight.... I'm hoping this will bring it back to equilibrium... allowing some tunability... but, I should've just taken my 5/64" drill bit and wallered out the hole just a smidgin.. now, I've got too much gas running through the system... Parts arrive in a week... hoping for successful results 🤙🤙 What do y'all think about all this??
