Ain't that the truth. I might give a call tomorrow, and offer them a deal... Mid-August is when Lee will have the Factory Crimp DIe ready, and Hornady should have the "custom" die sets ready anyday now - I keep watching that one. 200 loaded Hornady Match rounds ready to go, 300 Hornady 6mm 108gr ELD-M projectiles sitting here... No brass available yet, though, and no idea when it will be available... Patiently waiting... Kinda...

There isn't much loss, per inch, and Bill hit's that below vvv... Definitely one of my favorite article to quote, when someone starts talking about velocity loss because I bring out a gun that's short... @bmoney9 - can you SHOOT a 16" gun to 1k yards? Yep, if it's a good gun (barrel and trigger mainly, and ammo, of utmost importance). The whole gun needs to perform well, including balanced gas and recoil systems, though. No fancy parts required, just a solid-built gun. Is it easier on you shooting an 18" gun to 1k yards? It is. It's more predictable, and it doesn't taper off towards that transonic barrier as quickly as a 16" would - and that's the key in the whole thing. As long as your projectile is supersonic - you can plot where that shot is going to go, every single time. If I have an accurate 16" gas gun, and I'm shooting it against an accurate 20" bolt gun - I just need to know the verified drop at different distances, for both. I might have to dial more for the 16", than I would the 20" - but an accurate gun is still an accurate gun. If 1k yards is really the goal, doing an 18" gun will be easier for you to "see results with, faster..." - than building a 16" gun. There's alot of trial and error in making short guns accurate at significant distance. Test it, run it longer next time, gather your data, shoot it longer the next time... You can shorten that process if you have other guns in the same caliber, with longer barrels, though. With an 18" Grendel, I knew what my drop was at 850 yards. Then, I tried the 12.5" Grendel at that distance - I just added more drop, and had a good spotter calling dirt splash for me - it didn't take long to get that thing in steel at 850 yards. The difference was 18" gun went 8.5 mils of drop at 850, 12.5" gun need 10.6 mils of drop to hit 850. Little trial and error to come up with it - but I already had a shortcut because of the known dope on the longer-barreled gun in the same caliber, same load.

This is all part of the reason, brother. 6.5Grendel for me is the perfect AR15 cartridge. Then, along comes .224 Valk. Built one, tested it out - it's not bad, but IMHO doesn't smoke a Grendel. Now, we have this little 6 ARC - very, very close to the 6 Grendel wildcats that were out there. Just standardized. I'm in. I wanna see what the hype is. I do think it'll live up to it's hype, unlike the Valk. The Valk isn't a failure - but it's no Grendel Killer. This 6ARC has potential... Today is one month since I ordered the LaRue upper kit. They told me 1~3 months, so any day now...

I would LOVE to do that - but that's just one-time use, right there, and takes out a wall or two in the process. I think we should try this in the fall - tannerite on an RC car. CHEAP RC car, too... Doesn't need to be fancy - just needs to move tannerite.

We can get is straight. Fear not.

Rifle length gas port or the +2 on a 22’m barrel

This is how you treat people that fuk up when they jump. No slack. Especially this guy, when he busted his nuts on a jump.
-
You guys here seriously have no idea how much it means to me that this guy showed up here. No idea. I still think it's a plot, and @DNP is involved, somehow. Whatever the reason, this is one of my closest friends, ever in my life. That's a pretty small circle, too. Those that are in it know that. Unreal brothers, no matter what. This Eskimo fucker is legit. As all hell.

This is EPIC DOUG, and it was during an EPIC trip, too.. One that will never, ever be forgotten between us all. This trip in 2006 was pure Legend, pure Comedy, and pure Tragedy, all wrapped up together. Because of ONE DUDE... @SmoothAction let's loose on him, in a fun way - the guy didn't even get it. This brings NJC full-circle with us,...
-
This is epic Dune Moose action, circa 2006. @SmoothAction...
-
Indeed is was @SmoothAction on yours... Jake wrecked your dad's 400EX twice that ride - the first time was going into SuperBowl, when Al jumped off and crawled to him to make sure he was okay... That was epic - I need to find his GoPro vid of that one... Hey, even a blind monkey finds a banana once in awhile, right? All luck, brother, all luck. If he'd a been bleeding bad, I might have barfed... Here's us fucking around in Superbowl, right before Jayrod does the "I'm tired and I can't ride, so I'll just wreck" game. Definitely @SmoothAction - Douggie, confirmed. Here's a vid from the same trip - but not the wreck ride... I hit reserve on the 2-smoker, and that's no fun, as far out as we were - I left you guys and went back to camp.
-
Wasn't Douggie there for this one?! - that was the "Surprise Douggie Bust From The Trailer?!..." I think it was Doug on your bike. @SmoothAction, please confirm. Do it quick, before I start breaking out more pics and vids, brother...

There WAS a broken leg out there, that I did diagnose, though. Different time. Boot-top spiral fracture, tib and fib. @DNP was there, and literally saved the day. No shiit - had it not been for his Rhino, this guy was taking a helicopter ride out of the sand - but we got back to him, prepped him for movement, and put him in the back of the Rhino and got him back to camp. From there, we moved him to his truck, and someone drove him to Yuma General Hospital to get him fixed up. That was a pretty fucking epic day, right there. We put in some solid work, and got him the hell out of there, no helicopter - and no helicopter bill... $$$... Here's what we did to get him out of the wash - cut long sticks, duct-taped the fuk out of his leg to stabilized above and below the break, and stuff him in the Rhino. tried to put him in the front, but too painful. Ended up sticking him in the bed, with the tailgate down. We dressed him right, for movement. This was the x-ray composite: After the hospital pinned the hell out of him, and screwed him up tight. Dressed him up all pretty... The ER Doc wanted to know who packaged him for transport, and what the hell they knew about it, because it was the first time he'd seen long sticks and duct-tape to straighten someone out and get them moving - but it was the best thing he'd seen coming out of a dune-crash in a long time.
-
This was "diagnosing my kid's broken leg" that he knew he had...
-
Yeah, you broke him down like a shotgun, right away, too. Busted that news RIGHT out once we listened to 5 minutes of his shiit-talking about "I beat my Dad LAST YEAR, SMOKED HIM up the hill..." You let him have it. Just as he needed it, too, brother... So, since this thread is completely fucked, and it's been turned into the Eski Dune Thread, with the recent - surprise - arrival of a Brother From Another Mother... I'm gonna keep posting dune shiit. I knew from the outset, kinda - had to figure it out a little - I was being fucked with by a Dune Buddy. @AZMan is already here, so it wasn't him - but that fucker ambushed me, too... It was either Jayrod, or the Dune Moose. Turns out, Dune Moose. BUT!... for your viewing pleasure, here's some epic shiit from Jayrod... He'd been off a bike for quite awhile, and just showed up out here as a surprise. Atthe end of this ride, we determined that he hasn't ridden enough - because he was smoked. He was riding @DNP's WIFES bike - and he wrecked that bitch TWICE. Again, this is a long vid, but it's worth it. There's a loooong story about Jayrod, breaking his leg in 2009, in the Silverlake Sand Dunes in MI. He just bought a house, too - and I just moved to VA, too. His new house needed a roof, and I couldn't find work after moving to VA. I went to his casa in Cincinnatti, and we roofed that fucker in a week - with his gimp, broken-legged ass climbing up to ask us if we were doing okay. "Yeah, we're fine - bring up more BEER next time, fucker!!!" So, a few years later, Jayrod shows up - and this is Jayrod, after a few too many years off the bike. He crashed Dirk's wife's bike twice, because we wore his ass just OUT... I don't think we ever told her, back in camp, that he crashed her ride... Kept that one on the down-low... I was tail-gunner on this ride, so I got to watch it all... Just before this one, my kid crashed pretty good, and told me "he broke his leg..." That's coming up - the prior vid - as soon as I can find it.

She couldn't pull those stretch-o-matics just a LIL bit higher, and save the public?!...
-
BAM! Told you fuckers, too.

Oh, that happens nightly here, for me, brother...

^^^ That's the answer. Right there. The issue is that the tail of the BCG body is NOT pushing the buffer off the retainer, when you close the receivers and pin that takedown pin. There's a gap between the tail of the BCG body and the face of the buffer when the receivers are pinned and closed. That offset buffer retaining pin that JT listed will allow the buffer to come farther forward - and the BCG tail WILL push the buffer face off it, and keep it off it. Machining tolerances that are off, is the only cause of this. It can be the upper, or the lower, and I only called that lower because I have enough AP M5 uppers (and lowers) to state that it's not a problem, at all, in those sets. Only reason I said that. On functioning, I don't think that's the issue with function, and malfunctions - unless bolt bounce is the direct reason for your malfunctions. The situation that you have will definiitely cause bolt bounce. Only way to find out is fix the issue that you have, and fire that thing up and see what happens. Your buffer won't get chewed up anymore, though.

I can get after it, when the others are egging me on... That was mild, from that pic I posted - We just found a sweet jumping spot - it was like a jumping playground, in the middle of nowhere... The Insane shiit is when you ride past something and have to stop - because you saw a line that wasn't there before - and you think to yourself, "If I hit it THIS way, I can fly over THERE off this!... " Example - and my knucklehead kid filming: Since this gun safe thread is trashed already, we may as well just not stop... The start of this ride is right at the beginning of the little dunes, and ripping through them to get to the big dunes. This is the old '86 250R I got from Dirk. This is my kid - on my 450 - thinking he's gonna beat me up the hill. Fat chance. We DID play a trick on him at the end of a long weekend one year, and I let him beat me up the hill finally. Didn't say anything for a year. We get back to camp the next year, for Thanksgiving, and he starts talking ALL KINDS OF SHIIT about beating me the year before. @DNP just broke it down for him right then - "Jake, your dad LET YOU WIN last year. He LET you..." He didn't believe it, not one bit, and we were all laughing. I told him it was true - I held back, just enough to keep him barely in front of me... This was one that looked like every other race against him... Every year, he stated how much faster he was this year, yada yada, yada... I let him have it, just like normal... Notice - I gave him a second, and let him get going before I layed into it... I've got TONS of pics of Douggie, and I'm sorting through those now. I'll find some good ones to put in here, without a doubt.
-
That was EPIC - But Dirk let it slip in a phonecall, and I acted like I didn't hear it... and when I got out there to the dunes, I asked "Where the FUK is Douggie?..." You giggled like a motherfucker, and walked out of the trailer, and said, "HOW did you know?!!?..." That was easy - Dirk slipped, on the phone, and I caught that shiit right away... I just shut up and didn't say anything...
-
I had to fix that for you, brother. When is the convention/meeting down here?! When is that next meeting? We can plan the shoot around that, and you'll be paid to be here! Maybe in conjunction with it... I know it's fall 2020 for you...
-
Hehehehe... Uh! SI! I can break out SOOOO MANY stories about @SmoothAction here that it ain't even funny. Well, no wait - every story is funny with him. You guys have NO IDEA who you're dealing with here, but you will shortly. Me and this guy go back to about 2005, and a dream of an Eskimo to ride the sand dunes in California... ...and the ride is EPIC. What a jackass, to sneak in here like this, Douggie... I was ready to offer you 50ft of used garden hose, to test you... that would have told me if it was YOU, or Frizzi...
-
You NEED to be down here for Fall Shoot 2020, brother. I'm just sayin'... You know how we rock the dune rides, and trips... The Shoots here are just like that - but it's guns. Get your Eskimo Ass down here for a Fall Shoot. We're looking November-ish. PLan that out, brother, I kid you not...

You should have seen how spectaular I am when I WRECK in an MX race.... I don't play, I fuk myself up GOOD... When I wreck... I only wrecked ONCE in the dunes, and I did it right, and I fucked my 250R up good when I did it. I just rebuilt it stronger, with better aftermarket parts. Broke my hand, too, greenstick fracture, and still have the lump. Didn't get it fixed, was worthless to try to do so. Yes, that pic is me, above. That was just a good jumping spot. The REALLY CRAZY fucker in the bunch was Chris... on a Yamaha YZ-426. He's INSANE... BAD INSANE...
