BigP623 Posted November 28, 2014 Report Posted November 28, 2014 Well trying to get the rifle sighted in with some new ammo for hunting was quite an experience. They are a little heavier than I normally shoot and they were flying all over the paper. After about 6 rounds I figured there was a problem with either the rifle or the scope/mount. Started checking tightness on everything and found the barrel seemed to be a little loose. When grabbing the front of the rifle and twisting I noticed the gas tube moving ever so slightly. Tightened it down and now she's back to normal. Shooting 1.5" groups at 100 with some cheaper winchester soft nose ammo doesn't seem to shabby to me. My question is, is it normal for the nut to come loose over time? I have about 1k at least through this rifle....Just never experienced this before.
FaRKle! Posted November 28, 2014 Report Posted November 28, 2014 Nope not normal. It should've been torqued to at least 35ft/lbs.
98Z5V Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 30~80lb/ft, just like it's little brother. If you could move the gas tube a little just by twisting the barrel, then it was nowhere near the minimum. On an Armalite?!...
