wetncold
Does anyone make a shim or spacer for a free float tube? They make a 9" and a 9.5" round tube. I need a 9.25 " tube. Rather than cutting down a 9.5" tube, I was thinking of either shimming or getting a spacer. I measured the nut and it is 2".
survivalshop
A spacer to move the Hand Guard forward from the Barrel Nut ? Probably depends on how the Had Guard is attached to the Barrel Nut .
guruofhotrod
I think we may need a better description of the problem, model of free float tube, perhaps even some pics showing the problem and describing the solution you are considering? Also Samson makes a nice 9.25" Quad Rail for an AR10and high profile DPMS type 308 (requires the optional DPMS thread barrel nut) that you might look at, the "Star 10" Also this thread sounds similar to the situation you have? http://forum.308ar.com/topic/11702-small-problem-with-free-float-handguard-with-rail-gas-block/#comment-158343 Edited October 11, 2015 by guruofhotrod
wetncold
Exactly my problem or situation. Same handguard. I measured mine and cut it even with the shoulder of the gas block. I figured the thickness of the old handguard collar would be sufficient thickness to give me just the right spacing. I measured twice and cut it but it is about 1/4" too short. No big deal but we do want our guns perfect, don't we. I guess I will just get another tube and cut it again. They are cheap enough. Thanks, guys! DNP
Cut it twice and it's still too short.... that sucks. Just gotta get creative now.
