What history forgot on AHC

really cool show right now the episode is about the inventor of the gas piston system in the M1 carbine 

"rebels with a cause" is the title of this one. It's a great series tho I've learned a lot of cool stuff watching it.

didn't catch his name lied bout his age to get in the army, got kicked out. Went to a military academy got kicked out for stealing guns and ammo. Started moon shining killed a cop in a bust and got put in prison for 30 years. Starting smithing the guards guns in the machine shop, built three guns while in prison one made from a fence post and a model A axel. Also while behind bars drew up all these plans to better weaponry. After 8 years the warden let him out to help the war effort and he put his drawings for the M1 into manufacturing, came up with 100 sum patents.

Back in the 1940's they made a movie about his lfe. "Carbine Williams" with James Stewart. Saw it on TV when I was a kid in the Jurassic.
