Help Please ~ DPMS 308 Carbine AP4

Hi Guys - I own an DPMS 308 Carbine AP4 ( I think it's a gen 1 ) with the aluminum round free float barrel - I want to ditch the free float setup and go original - I bought the delta ring kit and barrel nut but I'm having a hard time finding the standard two piece molded ( I think they're referred to as clamshell ) handguard - Will any of the old pair of 223/556 carbine two piece " clamshell " handguards I have work - Both the 308 and 223/556 have sixteen inch barrel lengths

Are the clamshell handguards from a DPMS LR223/556 ? Wanna find someone trade with? Yours should fit. How about your gas block?  Original? with or without front sight ?------- how about posting pictures?

Magpul AR drop in handguards work on 308s so I'd think standard ones would work. Some folks need to trim the heat shields a little on the magpul, but they are a little more narrow than mil style handguard.

Thanks guys - I believe it's an A2 front sight base - I have del-ton and bushmaster 223/556 clamshell handguards

I have that LR308 rifle. Didn't do a thing to it. Great gun.

On another gun I took off the round handguard and installed a magpul 2 piece handguard but had to install 2 pins to close the magpul handguard and trim it around the gas block.

Yeah, get used to that handguard it is better. JMHO

We just hate to see a guy going the wrong way ....Well, anyway what we believe is the wrong way. If you decide to go that way anyway...What will you take for the pulled off stuff?
