My first build on the AR-.308.  I've built several AR-15's in different calibers but this is the first time I've encountered trouble after pulling back the charging handle, about mid-way I encounter a bit of friction (not smooth) and when the bullet is fully chambered, it is very hard to pull the bolt carrier back with the charging handle to eject the round.  I've one from the silent buffer tube from JP (i think) to a rifle spring with .308 buffer tube. I tried a different bolt carrier, and different charging handles. Anyone have any thoughts on what's next? Also changed out the take-down and pivot pins.

Welcome to the forum feel free to post up in the intro section.

are you using any type of lube? A lot of us like Mobil one synthetic, it's sounds like it's more than that but a good start.

Has the Bolt Head Space been checked ?

What fire control Group are you using ?

What Butt Stock system are you using ?

I'm not familiar with the JP Silent Spring system , never used one , but there could be spring binding , also might have something to do with the Receiver Extension ( Buffer Tube )

I have one bolt stop that has the same (or worse) effect as you describe.  It appears to be a fraction higher that the others I had laying around.  I switched it with one that looked a bit lower and everything worked just fine.  I put it in another setup just to try and it bound again, about halfway back with the charging handle whether there was a round in the chamber or not.
